the AMD ranking hierarchy is based around competition with Inte'ls cpus. Think of your XP3000+ being able to process about as much as a 3.0ghz P4, even though it runs slower.

yes it will work with regular ide cables, but I believe you will need a converter from the connector on the laptop drive to sata or ATA ^^ definitely put in extra fans. Are you using a SNES or NES?

ATI is pushing it's hella high end card, and hella high end parts, even from previous series are expensive. The X800pro is not the top o' the line card from the X series. The X800 XT PE is more expensive then the R9800xt. You're comparing apples to oranges.
