Unless - this is part of the "Mixed Mode" Valve wrote for Nvidia cards? I was assuming all along by mixed mode, they meant blending DirectX 8 with a few DirectX 9 features to keep FX cards up to speed. Maybe that's why it's in there? Maybe the Mixed Mode is actually OpenGL with Direct3D...

That's not the point. I'm sure there is fully a featured DirectX mode in the code. That's what Valve was pushing the whole time. My question is what's up with OpenGL being in the code and have ATI and Nvidia cards been tested in this mode and what are the performance benchmarks?
