    A-XP 2500+ (Barton) - What socket?

That doesnt seem right. Are you sure it is all dust free, virus free and adware free? This can slow down your computer and cause shut downs etc. Make sure there is decent ventilation as well.

    RAM and me

It won't give a performance boost when the motherboard does not support it...

    A-XP 2500+ (Barton) - What socket?

That 3d mark score is way too low and his cpu is not holding the 9800 back too much, It should be about 5500. Has he installed his motherboard drivers for agp?

If you dont want to upgrade mobo etc has your brother tried overclocking his cpu? Some people have reported getting 3200+ speeds.

    RAM and me

It will not make a difference, if you are not overclocking then standard ram (like Corsair value or Crucial) is absolutely fine.

    AquaMark3 Score

Sounds about right for aquamark, I was getting that score with my older, similiar specced computer. The 2001 score is OK but maybe on the low side 13-14k is what I would expect..

    A-XP 2500+ (Barton) - What socket?

Bartons and 64's use different sockets. Barton uses soocket A while the 64 uses 754/939. If he wants to upgrade he is going to need to upgrade his motherboard as well...

Help finding the right card !

If you have a shop around or look second hand you may be able to ifnd a 9800 pro for a similar price. I know you can get 9800pro for about £105 from www.overclockers.co.uk , but if you aren't in the UK thats not much good ;).

    CPU speed troubles

Hmmm, has it always been like this? You might as well try it at the slower FSB and take it from there. Is it warrentied etc?

    CPU speed troubles

AMD don't make a 3ghz chip... Unless you mean a 3000+ running at the 2 ghz AMd clock it to. If you try and clock your 2ghz to 3ghz you will run into troubles.

    Are these compatable?

It will all work, but you are going to need more ram to run games decently, 1gb is the way to go. That motherboard is a bit crap as well and as far as the psu goes get a good brand like Antec, OCZ or Tagan avoid unbranded and brands like Q-Tec.

    GeForce 6600GT BEST sub-$200 card??

Yes, but it would be possible to connect it to AGP with a pcie to agp bridge which comes out later this year.

    6600 GT or 6800?

I think 6600 gt is coming in AGP later with a PCi to AGP bridge thingamajig

    6600 GT or 6800?

If cost isnt the number one concern then 6800 definetly, but the 6600 gt seems to be no slouch and looking at some benchmarks it seems to be within 10-20 fps of the 6800 in all tests.

    GeForce 6600GT BEST sub-$200 card??

Well if i was you i would have a look at the vanilla 6800. I would have thought it would perform better than the 6600 GT but I have not seen any benches etc. Both cards will play HL2 well but no one knows how well...

Something is not right with my system....

Afraid so, its bit like when a highway suddenly turns into a single lane road. You have your mighty fast GPU pushing out data which is getting stuck in your memory.

    PES to support Live

Link Good news for all football fans. I personally can't wait, PES3 was and still is in a league of its own, now with Live support Fifa won't be able to hold a light to Pro Evo, i just hope average joe sees it the same way and doesn't fall for the marketing crap EA brainwash people with...
