That did happen, but I think X-Box work was going on at the same devleoper as the PC game...so they tried to make it easier to release on both at the same time.
I think Valve is making HL2 for PC, then porting it to Xbox.
Yea, you may be right. I hope not, but it is strange that the last batch of screenies have all been pretty bad (from the magazine previews to now).
So either Valve released screenshots that were taken at 800x600 with medium detail, or HL2 is not the graphical powerhouse everyone thought it...
I think we should wait until E3.
I think the screens were not supposed to be blown up so big....we will see I suppose.
All I know is I have seen screenies of the ermm....'demo' that look more detailed. Hard for me to believe Valve has regressed since then...possible I 'spose.
From my 'experience' (following game/software developement, which are different), I always interpreted Alpha to be the stage where the essentials are complete, and then major bug testing is done. Beta is when everything is in, and playtesting is done.
I doubt it will be out before.
I have a feeling Valve will either:
a) Announce avaliability of SDK at E3
b) Give a date in the near future (>2 weeks) when the SDK will be avaliable
I think the ability to get the SDK out in short order is a sort of 'test' to see if they can even hope...
AFAIK, other big name people have done it in the past....also I doubt it would be much less than the number of people who want to watch it regardless of whether it is playable.
Obviously not everyone can play it, but maybe a select few or something...
