Sure call me a fanboy. But the same thing can be said about all the people who jumped on the ATI bandwagon ever since they found out that HL2 was running a radeon card at E3.
From the way your talking it sounds like you think I'm a noob to PC gaming. Thats hardly the case and I know my hardware pretty well. You guys may wanna reconsider your position on the 9800 pro after looking at these benchmarks. Of course I'm assuming that you allready have seen these...
WTF? Its a matter of personal preference and just because everyone thinks the 9800pro is better doesn't mean shit. Personally I think the FX5900 Ultra is better.
I spent a little over $400 on a new motherboard, cpu, ram, which are in my sig. I'm gonna hang on to my TI4400 for a while longer though, I just dont think spending $300 on a new card is worth right now.
^^Ah I know exactly what you mean. The power supply wires freaked me out for a long time but when I built my first system I realized theres nothing to it. Theres plenty of sites that tell you all about building PC's just search in google.
^^It depends on which video card you have also. A 9700 pro can do 4xAA without breaking a sweat but its a different story for my TI4400. But I never use it anyway and I'm confident my PC should handle HL2 just fine.
When HL2 is finally release chances are theres gonna be so many people on here its gonna crash the servers and they're gonna have to get some more bandwidth. It happened when UT2K3 was released on the infogrames boards back in September last year.
Every since the first video of HL2 was released PC gamers everywhere had upgrade fever, I know I did. What parts have you bought and how much did they cost you?
Here's what I've bought and I think I'm finally done.
Intel D865PERL motherboard = $126
2.4c Pentium4 Processor = $170
768mb...
3dmark 2003 sucks ass. When I upgraded from a 1.4ghz P4 to a 2.4c and faster ram my score did not change. However in the 2001 version I gained over 4000 points. I only get around 1600 in 03, and around 12300 in 01.
I would not get the 9800se. If you go to newegg.com and read the customer reviews on this card you'll see that you're better off gettting a 9700 non pro.
