I have been there twice. It is a museum and it is actually a very cool place to visit. Lots of history on that island and the only way to get to it is by a 20 minute ferry ride. It also is ment to hold lots of ppl so an exibit there would be possible with lots of ppl.
I can't wait
If you read my most recent "INFO FROM VALVE" reply, you will see I got some info that states the Alcatraz thing is absolutly real however there is no information about it. :hmph:
Does anyone know when it is? Is it on release date? Is it closed to the press? I live a good 40 minutes away...

I just don't want suprises like "SUPRISE, you need to pay $.003/minute to play HL2-Online"
I wouldn't imagine Valve doing somthing that drastic but Steam seems very capable of doing somthing exactly like that, or even worse depending on how demented an imagination you have.
Edit: where did...
There is a thread deicated to a Macintosh port of HL2 on this board. It brings up some very valid reasons why HL2 should and shouldn't be ported to that platform.
On another note, I read in an interview (discussed here...
perhaps it is a linux binary (linux CS server maybe?)
If that is the case, you need to give the file execute permission. to do so type "chmod +x yourfile.bin" without the quotes.
you can find all the packages at http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/pkgs/index.xml
if you are into video editing, cinerella is cool. OpenOffice is nice for doing business apps, then Gaim, SIM, xchat are good for chatting. The best part is that you can emerge them all. Check out the apps-games section...
Whichever comes out with a Linux version first will win my vote for the best game. That means if Doom3 comes out six months after HL2, then Valve has 6 months to win my vote for the best game of all time :P
(you may now begin to flame me)
What is firebird? I guess I can look it up myself.... but im playing eve-online now I don't want to do TOO much at the same time.
Edit: NVM, it looks like what pheonix used to be but "improved." Looks cool, im gonna emerge it now :)
Yeah, xfree & KDE or Gnome takes forever unless you do a GRP install. Good thing you complied it though, makes it that much faster since it is optimised for your processor. :)
