What card are you currently using? When the first bink vids came out I ran them on a GeForce 2 MX400 and they ran fine(have since upgraded,still Nvidia though :dozey: )

I also own a 15inch monitor and play at 800x600....I would like Valve to release the stand alone benchmark before Sept 30th so I can see if I need to upgrade and what FPS I am likely to get (double figures hopefully). Athlon Xp1800 512 ram Geforce FX Lemon....

In the directX comparison screen page...I am failing to notice any real difference(poor choice of screen maybe).A few more comparisons might help me I suppose....Nice screenies though, like the striders, very War of the Worlds... Any chance the will release the stand alone benchmark before Sept...

Just looking at the gamersdepot follow up article on benchmarking HL2(thanks Munro) and they showed an in game screenie rendered in directx 8.0, 8.1 and 9...... I don't really notice any difference. Maybe it's the screenie(showing water) they used or my vision is failing but I am not so worried...

Thanks Munro.. Don't know if it's just me but the page with the comparison shots using the different versions of direct X(8.0,8.1 and 9) I couldn't really tell any difference. Nice screenies though....

A Fallout FPS......

Yeah, I just recently bought a 5600 and I am now feeling quite disillusioned... Well, I will wait at least until the stand alone benchmark comes out(why so late?)and/or the full game before making anymore rash decesions. Maybe the rel.50 drivers will make a difference............

I just bought a FX 5600 cause i have always used Nvidia cards....... Big, Big mistake....... I will see how it plays HL2, but it looks like I'll have to get a Radeon. Then fine another idiot to buy my FX lemon.

According to the latest HL2 benchmark I'd get more FPS sticking a my finger in the AGP slot............. Specs: Athlon Xp1800 512 ram Sounblaster live 5.1 And a Nvidia GeForce FX Lemon.............

Even companies as professional as Valve cannot anticipate every eventuality. FFS, nobodys perfect.

Well I think this game has the potential to be played for years.. Make the mods and they will come.............
