That's sort of what I was thinking. Do you know if they are going to create a new kind of socket or will the current ones still be passable with new cpus? I'm not sure how LGA 1156 is going to hold up against the i7 sockets unless they release new LGA 1156 cpus.

So, I just ordered a GTX 460 and my next stop is to upgrade my cpu. I was thinking an i5, but is that future-sound? Meaning that it won't date itself too soon? Anyway, I won't be getting the cpu for at least a couple months(perhaps during the holidays), but is there any cpu that I should try to...

We will most likely be dead and gone or evolved beyond the point of recognition.

I don't really have anything old except for a couple crt monitors and other pieces of tech from that time, those are cool. Record players are the shit too.
