Slightly miffed
Before this I wasn't even remotely considering getting HL2 from steam, but now that the soundtrack and posters are only available in the Gold pack, it's tipped the scales a bit. I really have no use for an XL t-shirt and the Prima book is sounding pretty lame. I was hoping the...
As far as material components go, I'm hoping for a book of concept art. I'd also like the furry headcrab. ;)
As far as data, HL: S would be nice. A making of DVD with possible tutorials ala UT2K4
I saw some of the reeeally oldschool videos on my Diablo:Hellfire expansion CD!
I also saw a preview of it in a PC Gamer and I was hooked! I got it for christmas in 98 I believe. Amazing how I still play it!
My start into FPS games started with Jedi Knight though. Before that game I though...
I had a dream once where there was a huge crowd in an abandoned factory. Then Gabe came in standing on the hood of a speeding car. THe car crashes into a pole and Gabe does some crazy acrobatics and lands in the centre of the crowd in a Matrix-esque fashion.
Hehe, it was pretty cool. I...
I'm not going to download it because I'm afraid of viruses and whatnot.
I would just like to see one fully textured scene that you could walk around in. I don't care if it's playable or not.
I have 3 points to make:
1) If this is real and it gets distributed, people in other countries will download it too and the FBI will have a hard time going worldwide.
2) Gabe said that the people who hacked into their computers copied the source code folder. He didn't say anything about...
I'm assuming this is fake.
However if this statement is real, maybe the guy working at said store was just looking on the store computer rather than actually seeing the game itself. Maybe their computers still say Sept 30th because that was the expected release date.
I know a guy who thought he knew everything there is to know about Half-Life. I asked him if he'd seen the HL2 videos and he was like "Half-Life 2 is coming out?!?"
I think HL2 will be much better as a game, however I'm sure Halo will do pretty decent in sales.
I'm pretty sure that if you buy it on steam, you will always have to authenticate on steam.
Also, CD versions will probably use the CD to auth. However, if Steam is not used to auth the CD version then the only thing stopping people from burning copies is cd-copy protection which is usually...
I was so mad when I checked the NVidia website only to realize that Dawn can only be viewed with an FX card! I have a Ti 4400! Isn't that enough?? ;(
I don't know the exact problems that NV cards have but I doubt I will notice it much. Ah the joys of being naive.
my video card (Geforce 4 Ti 4400 128MB) came with my computer so I don't feel any shame for having it. If HL2 is truly very slow on nvidia cards I might buy an ATI. It's been almost a year since I got my computer and I havent upgraded anything. However, I'll probably wait for a major price drop...
I go for traditional. I like to own it on hard copy.
I'm sure there's lots of people that have steam but don't post on here. They are probably the subscription/steam buyers.
Subscription option is NOT for people who are planning on playing HL2 or other Valve products for long periods of time!
It is simply for people who will only play it once in a while. If anyone is stupid enough to pay $10 a month for the next few years when you can get the exact same thing for...
I want a "buy 10 valve products get the 11th one free" punchcard.
My Wishlist:
1. Soundtrack
2. "Making Of" DVD
3. Some type of neat little doo-dad (keychain, mini crowbar, plush toy)
4. NO STRATEGY GUIDE!!! I wanna beat the game on my own. Plus there's always gamefaqs.com!
5. A book...
Has there been an official announcement that the subscription will be 9.95/month? I think Gabe is just using that as an example price. It's a fairly reasonable price, but considering that people might want more content for $10 a month, they might reduce the price.
I wonder how many people are actually going to pay by subscription. Think about this:
Hardcore HL2 fans - Definitely going to buy HL2 either over steam or in box. They'll be playing it ALL THE TIME for years. Paying by subscription wouldn't make any sense.
Regular HL2 Fans - I'll guess...
