I'd suggest to size down the dropship, and to size-up the Striders. The dropship appears to be enormous if it's behind that chimney. Same thing the other way around for the Striders...they could use some more height.

I don't know about the tentacle's name in HL1 though. It's just simply referred to as 'The Tentacle'
It should return with, say, fire as its weakness or something. It should also be inable to get inside small crawling spaces like ventilation ducts.
