You can see the blue force field around the guns as they disappear, and that's what first made me think of it. I just figured that while obviously its scripted that way so you can only use the grav gun, Valve would have still had some logical explanation for why the guns were disappearing.

I'm a little curious about the CP raid in the tenement house in Point Insertion. They seem to be killing everybody in the whole building, for no apparent reason. They certainly don't know who Gordon is, so there's no reason to assume that his presence caused the raid.
