So, the teen was allowed to do that? That's cool. I sometimes think about doing something like that if an intruder were to break in. Except with my airsoft gun >.>
 
This reminds me of a farmer who defended his property from someone. Then got sued for it. Stupid system.
 
Wasn't there once a story about a burgler that broke into this old womans house, and tripped on something only to stab himself in the leg on a knife she had lying around; and he successfully sued the old woman. :rolling:

Yeah, sadly...and another one where a guy broke into a vacationing peoples house, got locked IN the garage, had nothing to do but eat canned goods and drink Pepsi, and when they got home, he got out, sued them, and won.

I hate the legal system sometimes.

Sued? He's in jail. Granted, he did shoot him with a shotgun.

Actually, yeah, believe it or not, unless the intruder was attacking the boy, then the boy could be succesfully prosicuted for murder. Sad but true.

He stabbed the guy in the back five times. If it were one stab, then it would have been perfectly legal, but stabbing FIVE TIMES could be considered overkill by some courts. Not saying it's the right thing, but it's what the law says.

A lethal blow is a lethal blow.
Doesn't matter if you shoot someone once, or thrity times as long as it kills.

I seriously don't know if I'd be able to stab somebody with a knife. I'd have to be pretty angry/desperate to do that. I know he was in that guy's house attacking his dad, but I'd just hit him over the head or something... less blood and guts. And even then I can't imagine doing that. Maybe I'm just a wimp.

When you're put into that situation... you'll do something. You'll either attack the burglar and injure/kill him. Or you'll stand and be scared to do anything with fear of the result, and may find you and your family killed... or just your dad since he struggled with the burglar.
 
I know, I mean I'd go for the less bloody option, twat him over the head with something so he falls over. Not get a knife I've been keeping for the occasion and stab him a lot.
 
So some of you are saying, you should stab the intruder once and wait for him to turn around, smack you in the face, take your knife then stab you back? Well that's what I would be thinking if I was in his situation, I wouldn't want him to get back up - So several knifings is necessary.
 
I think that it depends on the situation rather than the number of stabs. If he laid he guy out with one hit and then leapt on him and proceeded to stab him rather than 5 successive blows i would assume it's a crime. But i'm just using common sense rather than the law.

Depends on what kind of person the bugular is I guess. I mean, if he's the average man, just looking for a house to rob for some money or whatnot, a knife wound, which is I believe is just as painful taking a knife out of a wound aswell as inserting into flesh, is probably going to put you down to the floor in immense agony. But if he was some ex-military guy, or some body-builder or something, then yeah, I guess he'd probably take the pain and fight back.
 
I'm sorry but if my family is being tied up and hes wrestling with my dad who is over 60 years old, and I had a knife under my bed, I wouldn't hesitate and think "hmm well a knife would do... but perhaps I can look around for another object that is less lethal..."

i'd stab him.

I would slice him instead of stabbing him. I would slice him until he died, and then rub his blood all over my face, then release a massive battle cry.

Hope that kid don't get done for Manslaughter or whatever. The system is stupid. Good on him for defending his old man!
