SaotomeCyclone said:Why would they have to "rebuild" the code? They would still retain a copy of the original code on many machines at Valve I'm sure. And I believe that they code that was stolen was only part of the complete Source engine.
Shuzer said:I think, what he's trying to say is, Gabe knew the game wouldn't hit the 30th. But it was Vivendi's date, and Lombardi stuck by it, just because that was the date Vivendi set.
exoeight said:maybe if your lazy ass actually READ the valve only thread, and read the ENDLESS times GABE NEWELL PERSONALLY tells us sept. 30th over 100x...
...seriously, how are you going to argue with half the people here that were around when it happend. like me.
is this kid for real, what a tard
cadaveca said:I simply asked for a link were Valve sadi that the release was sept 30th. None has provided as such.
cadaveca said:uh, dude...i'm 27. With 2 kids of my own. Your comment makes YOU look like a kid.
I simply asked for a link were Valve sadi that the release was sept 30th. None has provided as such.
If anything, most you the posts in this thread that are not my own show the maturity of the posters by thier answers to my question, which don't even provide the info i requested.
I asked for a link, and a discussion on how the date was changed. C'mon people, it's the anniversary. Please make mature, sensible comments.
Neutrino said:Why don't you read my post.

Shuzer said:Well, can you provide us a link to a video/whatever else that you're so concerned over? Unless you already did, in which case I missed it.
cadaveca said:HARDOCP..i did link it....and it has the actual slideshot from Gabe's presentation that says BENCHMARK, like i have been saying all along.
someone earlier posted that it was this news that started the news that the date would not be reached.
here it is again:

blahblahblah said:I'm confused. We have multiple sources backing up that Valve Software intended to release HL2 on September 30, 2003. Yet, you discount all of those in favor of a one source that says otherwise?
cadaveca said:because i have GAbe himself, in person, saying that the benchmark was to be released, not the game.
GABE.
nobody, beside neutrino, has provided me with a link...and that was to a forum. That is not offical to me. anyone, almost, can post on a forum.
Shuzer said:Okay, you must have missed it about.. 10 times when I said it:
HL2 was scheduled for September 30th. When we heard the news of the benchmark being released the very same day, MONTHS after we heard about HL2's release date being OFFICIALLY September 30th, it spelled disaster for HL2's release.
There were split topics, some saying "this means HL2 is delayed!" others saying "it's nothing, it's just a benchmark so you can see how HL2 performs before you buy it."
Just because the benchmark was announced for the same day, MONTHS after the initial HL2 release date was announced, does not mean HL2 was never planned for that day.
Gossoon said:If you've been following the story at all you would know that Gabe and Valve make almost exclusive use of forums to get news out. Crazy, yes. But that's the way they do things.
cadaveca said:again, where's your link.....
i'm not saying your wrong, but you are basing your facts on what? I have provided hard proof of my claims....and if since the shaderday vidoe, things changed, i'd like a link to something that resembles an official statement from valve that reflects that.
an email, that i could easily concoct myself? i mean, CNN has covered the issue... that would almost be official, to me, depending on thier sources. MY source is the man himself, in person. anyone gonna email him and prove me wrong? please?
cadaveca said:anywhere else besides at some forum...maybe somewhere really offical...like @ e3 2003, and in the general public's eye?

blahblahblah said:a powerpoint slide is as official as an interview.
cadaveca said:was the interview with gabe saying so posted here? you would think so, seeing how valve funds this forum, if it was official.
still no links.
when did Gabe change from benchmark "to test upcoming hardware and drivers" to Game?

cadaveca said:nobody, beside neutrino, has provided me with a link...and that was to a forum. That is not offical to me. anyone, almost, can post on a forum.
cadaveca said:your sources sat planned, and all mention vivendi. There is a reason as to why Lombardi said to ask vivendi when the release date was. Because from day one. it's vivendi who have final say. Valve are trying to fight this, from the looks of the lawsuit, so that vavle can release the game now, because it's ready.
CB | Para said:Dear lord, just drop it! They said september 30th last year, and kept chanting it like a mantra 'till the infamous delay.
Do you have proof? links
Use the search button next time!
blahblahblah said:Fine. Prove your theory. Multiple sources required. None of this theory junk you've spouted. I want to see atleast 2 other sources stating that Valve never intended to release HL2 on September 30. One powerpoint slide doesn't cut it. Especially since the presentation took place on September 15.
cadaveca said:remember these are my opinions, and like you, I am entitled to them. you don't have to agree.. i'm not asking you to.
