2012: The Year The Internet Ends

This had bloody well better not happen :frown: I live by the internets, I can't fork out for it all the time. Nay, I won't fork out at all!!! They won't take money from me without a fight!!! :sniper:

This conspiracy theory has one huge hole.

If the major internet providers create a cartel, then the consumers will turn to the small ones, which will be extremely popular because they won't restrict inter access. The people will simply leave the providers that limit their internet access.

You don't understand how monopoly works really do you monkey. You can try to be as popular as you like and perhaps suceed to some extent. But if the people with the 'money' key word here, are in control of the ISP's they can choose to buy up and quash undesirable ISP's weither there popular or not, that's why people are worried the origional internet will eventually filter out or be neglected because of the alternative media etc that isn't part of their agenda. And you can't say there isn't an agenda else the idea of making an internet 2 wouldn't exist.

Net neutrality.. people have been going on about it for years. Surely everyone else has solved the problem for me by now?

We'll end up having to look to Valve. They'll save us.

But there is no monopoly or oligopoly on the internet provider's market, at least not in this country.
