look at openGL games. and in far cry at 1600x1200 4xaa/8xaf the 6800 only lost by .4 fps.Pobz said:nVidia always loses to ATi when AA/AF are turned on full...
Pobz said:nVidia 'optimisations' usually mean sacrificing image quality too, which isn't good.
bosox188 said:They didn't mention which cards did better at Divx encoding, but I know the X800 would beat everything, ATi cards are optimized for encoding Divx and other Mpeg-4, it says it on Divx player.
rofl where did you hear this? even ati knows that openGL will be important in the future, they will be reinventing their whole openGL support for better performance in future drivers. how long this will take, i dont know.nVidia do own in OpenGL but unfortunately OpenGL is on its way out.
like i saidnVidia Optimisations reduced image quality all the way through the FX series, and I did say 'usually'. What part of that is false?
keywords = this round., nvidia has stepped it up from that peice of shit they call the fx series.ati and nvidia are pretty even in IQ this round.

im not tryin to be nvdia PR or anything lol, just lettin you know.

Not really. More then half of the games are OpenGL nowadays. Take a look at the top ten online games from gamespy.com/stats:Pobz said:5 or so years ago almost half (if not more) of games ran in OpenGL, but these days theres only the odd one or two that do.

9. Medal of Honor: AA Spearhead <-- OpenGL only
10. Unreal Tournament 2004 <-- has OpenGL support
.....how so?Sprafa said:You just contradicted yourself again.....
guinny said:Do you think Nvidia is the only company that can make drivers to enhance openGL performance?
then why havent they if its so easy?guinny said:They could easily make drivers that could do circles around a 6800.

I'm an nVidia fanboy too, n3wb. I'm glad nVidia are catching up to ATi in D3D performance. The fact I've bought an X800 XT Plat does not make me any less of an nVidia fanboy.
guinny said:Alig you can notice an emmense difference between jaggies and smooth edges. The game looks more crisp, and does an overall image quality improvement.
it makes it even more fanboyish when you cant back up your logic.Do you think Nvidia is the only company that can make drivers to enhance openGL performance? They could easily make drivers that could do circles around a 6800.

And this shit about jaggies "who wants to play with jaggies" is crap, they are hardly noticeable, only when you are specificly 'looking' for jaggies do you really notice them.

ATI has said they put importance on games that need improvment rather than OpenGL games that are 150+FPS.x84D80Yx said:then why havent they if its so easy?
you have a quote/link on this?Asus said:ATI has said they put importance on games that need improvment rather than OpenGL games that are 150+FPS.
I believe I have found it!x84D80Yx said:you have a quote/link on this?
revamping their openGL would help all openGL games in performance anyway you cut it.
Speaking of facts, ATi did make some "shitty ass" cards in the (distant) past.guinny said:I'm not a fanboy, I love facts. ATi always has pulled through, and they at least didn't make a shitty ass line of cards cough*FX*cough.

on a lighter note. I'm not a fanboy, I love facts. ATi always has pulled through, and they at least didn't make a shitty ass line of cards cough*FX*cough. And whatever cards they might have lacked in, were always made up for with driver releases.
