If I recall correctly, if you had made a rant about your individual error that not many people get only for HL2 you would get eaten alive in the proper forums. However it has been months since i have ventured in there.

Have you looked at the support forums for any help?

i'm seriously considering reverting back to ie7 for browsing
last week my machine was a little sluggish so I fired up the task manager to see what was slowing the computer down. I found firefox was using a ****ing ridiculous 375mb of RAM after only a few hours of normal browsing. That just isn't right :|
Oh and the crashes and lock ups drive me bananas

I said this last time, I'll say it again. I use 1.0.7 and it runs flawlessly.
If you hate IE so much just use an earlier version of Firefox.
I highly doubt this version you are having problems with offers any functionality you can't live without.

I thought I was the only one!

Damn you Firefox and constant dueling with quicktime plug-in!

*shakes fist*

1.5.0.3 running smooth here. As long as I stay away from WMV streams.

No problems here.
:p
*copy and pastest to his hearts content*

Sterny stern stern, why have you not yet switched to Opera? Combines all the brains of Emmett Brown and the musqles of Biff Tannen into one slick, smooth Marty McFly.

ouch  may Firefox trap your balls in your CD tray for your insult to such an 80's hero.

Haha, for me firefox used to be horrible and had so many bugs now I haven't had a problem with it for like months.

I've only had 2 problems with FF.
1: Freezing while loading Java Script (But it unfreezes when the script is finished loading)
2: An ocational (and by that I mean twice in 4 years) seemingly random deletion of bookmarks, but it provides backups anyway.

EXTRA EXTRA old man yells at web browser

i find it interesting the way different software seems to affect people in different ways :|
for example the vast majority of people on this board have had next to no problems with Firefox or halflife 2 - yet I am plagued with problems with both
from the sounds of the battlefield community you have to sell your soul and throw in a testicle to sweeten the deal just to play BF2, me - not a single issue in 300+ hours
I find that interesting I guess - must be the statistician in me :p

Firefox usually freezes twice a day now for me. I tried Opera, the minute I opened it crashed.

i think you're the problem. :p

I've never had ANY problems with FF in the last ehm.. 1.5 years? I'm not using much plug-ins, maybe that's what's killing you.

Ironicaly, right after I downloaded the update FF stopped loading web pages. It's fine now after I restarted my computer.

Opera FTW!

It doesnt like .pdfs and a few other things though, but i just use those in firefox and let opera do the rest

session saving is awesome :) lets you close opera with a load of tabs, then open it where you left off. related to this is keeping a history of all the tabs you've closed, allowing you to re-open them just as they were, with the ability to still go back in them etc

mouse gestures are also great, i feel empty in firefox now, trying to use them and wondering why nothings happening. i believe there are some gesture plugins for firefox , but i think they work differently, the opera ones are really simple. keep hold of the right mouse button and drag either back for back a page, forwards for forwards, down for a new page, or down then right to close a page. works really well in practice.

im sure i could probably write a lot more, but im not gonna bother, you can already see i really like opera :E

Only problem I have with firefox is the updating never works properly. It keeps saying I need to close everything, even on a restart. Luckily I found that using the backup .exe allows the update to continue and FF to update. But it's a pain in the arse.

Crush im with you there, I LOVE OPERA SAVING WHERE I WAS! I mean here and there everything crashes. When Firefox would crash I'd be like "you piece of shit". With Opera which crashes soooooo extremely rare although I do believe mine has a memory leak(I should update it) in it so it goes unresponsive sometimes. But all I gotta do is exit and load her back up, takes less than a second and im exactly where I was. It crashes I can just load her back up and be right where I was.

Opera is by far my favorite browser EVER.

Why can’t you leave FF alone? She is better than IE, only if she didn’t get stuck.

How ungrateful. You realize that web browsers don't just magically appear avoiding all work needed to be done on them, right? They're not a given and this one is free so I'm a little confused.

Yeah, theres a good FF Extention for all of those features.

I just went through the HA! HA! thread with no problems despite numerous posts reporting browser crashes.

I used the Mozilla Suite, but I was forced to switch to Firefox because Mozilla doesn't ****ing know what align="center" means.

Neither of them can open a PDF without crashing, and both of them assume that if I install QuickTime, I want to use the QuickTime plugin to open EVERYTHING, even if I explicitly state in the options that I want media files to open in Winamp.

It shouldn't need to be an extention though, it should do it default, they are all incredibly usefull features.

They aren't the only reasons i feel opera is better anyway, i just feel it's a better browser

if you haven't already, give it a try, what is there to lose? :)

http://www.opera.com/

EDIT: wow, i never knew the wii was gonna have a browser on it :D

coupled with a dvd player too and zelda at launch, i cant wait for the wii!!! :E

Dear Firefox,

Why are you f*cking free? You stupid piece of shit program, you've never once crashed on me or given me a single reason to hate you, but even if you did, I would not really be able to complain because you're shareware! Do you know how selfish that is?!

FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE

Sincerely,
Yuri

Mouse gestures in FF are a LOT better than the ones in Opera
You have a lot more gestures that can do a lot more things
One of the reasons i stopped using opera

FF is a superior browser if you want to put the time into customizing it and getting the video plugins to work properly.
But if you don't, then Opera is definitely the way to go.

I constantly use the
Go home, refresh, open link in new tab, minimize, open new tab, next tab, last tab, close tab, history back, history forward, stop and close window gestures
I don't remember which of those exist in Opera, but I think a couple are missing. (Or at least were in the version I was using)

And as you can see from the scrollbar the list of possibilities is quite long
