A male voice came over the public-address system Sunday evening at a store in Washington Township, in southern New Jersey, and calmly announced: "Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now."

Shoppers in the store at the time said a manager quickly got on the public-address system and apologized for the remark. And while it was unclear whether a rogue patron or an employee was responsible for the comment, many customers expressed their anger to store management.

This is not the first time the retailer has faced such problems.

There have been several past instances of black customers claiming they were treated unfairly at Walmart stores, and the company faced lawsuits alleging that women were passed over in favor of men for pay raises and promotions.

In February 2009, the retailer paid $17.5 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging racial discrimination in its hiring of truck drivers.

So who do you think it was? A Walmart employee or a rogue prankster?

hahaha, this is funneh!

It must of been the manager, and then apologized to make it sound as tho it was another feller. What a bastard.

"God... I wish all these black people would leave my store. What is this, the Lower Ninth Ward? Wouldn't it be great if I could just walk over there... pick up the microphone and say.............................................."

"Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now."

"Oh shit..."

The boycott will in fact bring an end to the multi-billion dollar company. Walmart are quaking in their slippers.

Probably was a customer. They have the phones right in the isles and they're frequently "pranked." Just look on youtube for "Walmart intercom" or something and you'll see tons of people saying stupid things over the system.

Yeah, pretty much. You'd think they'd put some sort of code lock system on them or something. Or maybe they do... and people just know the codes. I dunno.

You gotta know the code to the intercom, but it's not hard to find/have a friend that works at one tell you.

I love the fact that this happened so close to where I'm from, in my boyfriend's hometown. Right by where that whole "Adolf Hitler" Shoprite cake incident happened a few years ago. I love that region, but it wasn't until I moved away that I realized how "white trashy" some people there can be.

Why can't these things happen at my walmart? >:c

Randy and Lahey to the **** off department, Randy and Lahey to the **** off department.

/me waits for a Canadian to get the joke.

It was probably some random guy, you can just ask an employee or someone who used to work there to find out what the code it for the phones, at my local Walmart is 421, at my work (grocery store) its 321

Yeah, the phones (that can be used over the intercom) are place all throughout the store. It's not like some prankster would have to sneak into a manager's office.

16-year-old boy charged
On Saturday March 20, 2010, 1:10 pm

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in the case of a racial comment that was made over the public-address system at a Walmart store in southern New Jersey.

Police said Saturday the Atlantic County teenager was arrested Friday on charges of harassment and bias intimidation. They say he's been released to the custody of his parents.

The incident happened Sunday evening when a male voice came over the Walmart public address system and calmly announced: "Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now." The announcement provoked an immediate apology from the store manager.

Authorities aren't releasing the boy's name because he's a juvenile, and they don't know whether he has an attorney.
