dun dun DUN!!!

another one who didn't read the article? or die-hard uber-patriot without an open mind? answers on a postcard kids.

LMAO. Yeah, I read the article. And no, I don't think Sprafa should be banned, he's a cool guy. And you owe me a life testicle.

ya sure you did pally ...if you did you wouldnt have said what you said ...nothing in that article can be construed as "anti-american"

lol, I think it is. The guy who wrote it shoved words in our mouth. Look at the last paragraph on part one. "Americans have never felt more vulnurable" etc etc. I don't feel vulnurable. The article also states the America is "the problem" not "the iraq conflict"

You don't have to believe me or not man.

Most Americans have never felt more vulnerable. September 11 was not only the first attack on the American mainland in 150 years, but it was also sudden and unexpected. Three thousand civilians were brutally killed without any warning. In the months that followed, Americans worried about anthrax attacks, biological terror, dirty bombs and new suicide squads. Even now, the day-to-day rhythms of American life are frequently interrupted by terror alerts and warnings. The average American feels a threat to his physical security unknown since the early years of the republic.

You know, it's pretty damned easy to tell that this guy has never lived in America. Or if he has, this is a GREAT attempt at yellow journalism. Or just another nab at ratings.

*Ed*

You know, my favourite part of the article was when it said that America takes advantage of our steel workers, etc etc.

My dad is a retired steal worker, and he made a little less than 40 an hour at the end of his career. (read: End of career=when he died)

It's funny, because the article is just a general rant on the U.S. Yet at the same time it kisses ass towards America. It basically says "You do good, but you can do a lot better" which I respect, because I know that America could improve 10 fold, but at the same time, it's not just us. I know America ****s up a lot, we're new in the world, give us a chance. We're the one's playing catch-up here.

If I seemed "Overly aggressive", then I'm sorry. These threads are getting to me. We ARE a peaceful people, and we're not the war-mongers we may appear to be. That article makes it sound like we all have bunker below our house's with a small cache of small arms and high explosives. If there is any ignorance going on here, it's two way.

Then it's yellow journalism, or "A nab at ratings" as I previously stated. The guy even meantions people writing bullshit to get into the New York Times. Which is exactly what he is doing. :)

*Edit*

When I say "Which is exactly what he is doing" I don't mean that he is writing "bullshit", I believe 90% of that article (Not the steel/farmers thing, and not the exaggeration on the feelings of vulnurability on every American) but the rest of it, yeah.

I've got a lot of respect for the world, and even the worlds respect on the worlds opinion of America. But NOT when they're just sitting there not doing jack shit about it. Every time there's a thread like this, you're GUARANTEED to get at least ONE asshole saying some shit like "America Sucks" etc etc.

So the two Iraq wars just "appeared" to be wars, like the Afghanistan war? Or maybe they were "peacekeeping" operations?

How is an editorial that puts forward a compelling argument against Bush's foreign policy "a grab at ratings"?

Do newspapers even have ratings? Do they really sell based on the controversy of their editorials? Do you really think this journalist wrote this large article for the sole purpose of getting people to pay attention to him?

Is it really so unthinkable that one person can write some (considerably mild) criticism of the current administration because they actually hold that belief?

And even though you don't feel vulnerable, can you honestly say that the biggest attack on america since Pearl Harbour, and all the subsequent terror alerts and homeland security advisories haven't made America far more on edge than it was before 9/11?

His article is well thought out and researched. I see nothing wrong with it.

What's wrong with the mindset? He's right.

Well, he basically said: "I don't care if people don't like what America does to them because if they try to stop us, we'll kill many of them and destroy the livelihood of the rest."
