Both get paid to have sex with people, so are pornstars prostituing themselves, or are they simply actors with more explicit "bedroom scenes"?

Of course they are, selling their bodies to porn the porn industry to get money for it, its just a more open and well funded type of prostitution. What drives these people to do it is beyond me though, I would rather die with a soul...
 
I doubt those who do it are particularly pre-occupied with religious morality.
Either that or they just go to confession very often.

Also, Shift, you can't understand why people would do it? Well let's see...you have sex, which is the pinnacle of human pleasure, for a job. You have multiple partners all of which are generally at least moderately good looking into phenomenal ranges, and you never have to take them out on dates or pay for drinks. Also if you have any fetishes you can become a niche actor and never have to worry about your partner not accepting your kink. You can make up to $2k per movie, and nearly half a million dollars per year. Gee, I have no IDEA why people would want to work in porn, it sounds like a crummy job to me, especially when outweighed by the prospect of keeping pure an unknown and uncertain thing like a soul. What are those pornstars thinking?! Someone help me get my head around this!
 
One's legal, the other isn't. On a purely technical basis, I'd say they're essentially the same thing. Screwing for Benjamins, fo sho.

Porn stars are richer, hotter and more happy with their lifestyle than prostitutes. Other than that it's pretty much the same thing.
 
They are dubbed 'actors' as porn is a legal profession (majority of it anyway). Prostitutes are almost always using the money they 'earn' to put towards drug habits.
 
I don't see why being a pronstar should be legal, when prostitution is illegal. Ban both, I say, they're the same.
 
The simple fact is a prostitute will have sex with anyone for money.

Pornstars have sex in a pre-arranged time and place with people they are more than likely familiar with.

In that case I'd go so far as to say that prostitution was made illegal based on false pretenses.
 
Not really, they aren't paid by someone to have sex with them. they're paid by someone for someone else to have sex with them. odd isn't it
 
Technically, they're prostitutes.

However, at least in Poland, prostitution in itself is not illegal. Profiting from it, is.

Yeah ok thats fair enough, but if i was to choose between being a porn star and earning shit loads of money, and doing a job that serves a PROPER purpose, like saving lives or something, and earning half the amount, i would straight away go for latter. I mean ok, if thats what they enjoy doing, then they can by all means do it, there is no harm in doing it, and hell its even serving a perverted purpose to the world. But i would never do it because its degrading, you lose all respect from anyone you ever knew beforehand and its for people who think the sole purpose of having a life is to have sex and be really rich, the sort of people I hate. But hey thats just me.

In a sense, i'd say both, but it is a viable career option for those open to showing off anyway.
 
To get a better idea of the differences between pornstars and movies. I shall have to review videos of both of them in action. Only then can I make a sound judgement.

No. They aren't getting paid for the act, they're getting paid for the filming of it. Also, as stated before, a 3rd party (pron production company) is paying both (or all, as the case may be) of the actors (sexual participants) - not one participant paying the other, as is the case with prostitution.

No they're not prostitutes. There is a difference (a fine line maybe) between a girl knocking around street corners offering sex for money than a pornstar being payed by a production company to film sex and then be sold as porn...not to mention, all involved in a porno are payed to have sex and only 1 is payed money in prostitution (or do they pay you also? because if thats true i'll be straight in my car looking for some prostitutes!).
 
they're not the same because with a prostitute the guy is the client who is paying to have sex with the woman. With a pornstar, the producer is the boss paying the pornstars to have sex for entertainment

Prostitution, as a whole, is bad for society.

Hence the distinction, at least in my opinion.

Sure they're morally equivalent, but that has nothing to do with law. The law looks at not only the action but the effect of that action.

(Although this post is probably utter crap and the only reason ones illegal is because the moral women's movement of the early 1900's were more concerned with removing prostitution that pornography and laws are hard to change)
