BTW, you can get if for less.
here is what OCybrManO told me:
Here's one for $285 with free 2-3 day ground shipping.

Here's one for $292 with free shipping and an optional free paper weight with your zodiac sign or a newegg baseball cap.

When looking for a 9700 Pro I found this:

Yes, it's out of stock but they give you $10 off their Radeon 9800 Pro ($328-10) because of the inconvenience if you put in the coupon code "r98p10" when you check out.
btw, thanks OCybrManO :) i never would have found those prices..And I had the money for a new monitor :)

Asus V8170 GF4 MX460

I'm dumping the GF4 and will be getting a Hercules Prophet 9800pro.. Rest of the system should be fast enough (for now)..

yeah well i definitly need to upgrade my system, it's currently a 1.2ghz Amd T-bird, 512mb sdram and a geforce 2 ultra 64mb. It would probably run HL2 but with everything on it's lowest and that not how i want to play it!!1!1!!;(

Well boys looks like the benchmark is just around the corner...

My new rig's been inchin for some DX9 love.

p4 2.8c 800mhz fsb
1gb corsair twinx ddr400
120gb 7200rpm hd
ati 9800pro 256

WOW so many people upgrading.

I didn't realise so many gamers had let their systems slip so far.

I know lot's of guys who currently have great pc... like Amd or Intel 1.8 or 2GHz With geforce 3-ti500 / Geforce 4ti-4200.. And they still want to upgrade for 3GHz with ATi 9800 / 9600 .... In my opinion it's such a waste of money... but well, they do want they want to do...

Hey, i have a p3 750Mhz with 384 MB with a geforce2ti and i can play all games at low/medium detail in 800x600 except Command And Conquer Generals...

The Man in Red:
How is the ATi 9800?? I think i'm going to buy this one soon. But i heard the driver sucks... How the card is performing in games like Command & Conquer Generals / Unreal Tournament 2003??
Are you a bit disapointed?

the 9800 pro is cruuently the best card on the market. Ati had driver probems in the past, but they are rock-solid now, even the ati cards still have trouble with some games. not hl2 or ut2k3 however :)

If i buy an ATi 9800 and a pentium IV 3GHz, do you think i will be able to play ALL the games at max details? With FSAA / AF enable? Atleast in 1024x768... If not, the card don't worth the $$$ imo :)

Edit: What card do you own right now?

LOL, we almost have the same system. Why 2 gigs of ram btw. Isn't it a bit overkill with the software we have at the moment??

Bought some used part from i friend.

Got: Msi kt4v kt400, 512ddr3200, radeon 9700pro and a new 2500+ barton for about 250 us dollars :D cheap and fast, just as i want it.

That whole system is overkill and a complete waist of money.. A P4 2.8Ghz, 1GB RAM & ATI 9800 PRO 128MB is almost as fast and *alot* cheaper (with a bit of overclocking even faster I bet).. But hey, if you have to much cash and want to waist it, be my guest.. ;)

Well to answer the 9800 pro question. It's worth every penny. You can't really tell through screenshots, but it brought my UT2k3, Vice City, C&C Generals, and SOF2 to a whole new level from my Geforce 4 TI4200 128mb. So much smoother, the gfx are all smoothed, barely ANY jaggies, the game flows perfectly even through the most intense moments that would normally cause the game to get choppy. I definately recommend it to anyone who has the money.

More than you know, I forgot to list my zalmon 7000 cu. :)

Cuz they had a back order on the crays. No seriously, I'm into computers like some people are into cars, they get their porsh or viper, and it's complete overkill for most people, but it makes them enjoy life more. Besides, a lot of the people here will unfortunately laugh, but I don't mind supporting the computer industry, they make great things and make life better for everyone, people buying their $50 cpus are getting great deals, fast cpus and a tanking US economy.. I bet a lot of the people who call my system a waste, spent lots of money on WWF or football or 50 inche speakers, 50 inche tvs, or something that someone else could call wasteful, dunno why but it's only a 'waste' when it's a good computer, probably due to the ignorant 'nerd' stereotype computers have in society, so these people say to themselves "well, I'm not a nerd because I only got the BARE ESSENTIAL computer, and spent the rest of my money on WWF blocks and beer, see I'm smart.." The extra ram makes a great ramdrive for internet explorer cache, for now, and in the future if I need it it's there.
