Just wondering what the average age is of players in the TF2 community.

Im 21 and manily hear ... err "younger" people on the mics.

I'm 16. :naughty:

20

Had an 11 year old on my team the other night. That was interesting.

I'm 20

and I have 11-year old brother, who also likes to play TF2.

23. I think generally if you play on servers with "Quake" sounds, you're probably playing with people who are too young to realise that:
a) You're supposed to use the mic when you have something to say, not to give everyone a running commentary of what is happening on your screen
b) They're Unreal Tournament sounds, not Quake sounds

That said, I'd say the average TF2 player is older than the average CSS player, simply because the game has wider appeal and is more friendly to decrepit older gamers who can't put in as much time to be 'l33t'.

I'm 18, and I usually hear older voices, most of the time the little kiddies don't talk because they're usually made fun of.

I don't condone it, but it usually seems to be the case were I play.

I'm 18, my brother plays and is 15 but he's not the micspam type.

20, but I don't really play that much.

15 :p
//I haven't heard myself on mic but I think I sound like 10 :p

On NZ/Aussie servers there are a lot of vet TFC players, so the player base there is probably 20+ for most.

15 here

(i'm afraid to use a mic 'cause i have a very high pitched voice for a guy...)

Lol25. But I listened to my own voice in a message today and it really makes me sound like a kid.

14. I use the mic from time to time, usually only when playing with hl2.netters. I ususally don't have much to contribute anyway.

19 here. I am the more serious player-type, I really don't go on the mic to talk trash or anything. More like "need a dispenser here" "enemy in the sewers" "need help at the first cap" shit like that. Thing is, I think I do it so much that one can probably consider it mic spamming.

22 here. I'd use my mic lots for strategy but it broke. :(
I'm in Australia too and find that most players are older, and generally speaking they're pretty darn good for pub server players. Tfc vets hurrah!

13 micspam when friends are micspamming too.

Nu mic at all when no friends.

15 nearly 16. but i guess average age is about 12-23 something like that

I dunno, but I've noticed Source based games have a horrifying habit of punk kiddies, many euro dolts, who CANT. SHUT. THE. ****. UP.

So I basically disable all voice comms in every Source game I have.

I have Ventrilo to speak to my mates, who

A) aren't irritating

and

B) I like

Seriously though, some tards abusing the voice comms are just asking to be punched out.

Usually hear prepubescent American boys on UK servers and it's the funniest voice comm you will ever hear! :D

... not as funny/annoying as when I play drunk though.

I find TF2 to be surprisingly refreshingly clean of whiny kids on voicechat. Generally the people using voicechat are using it to coordinate massive enemy beatdowns.

18 here, I've met quite a variety of mic users, but most of them haven't been very high-pitchy. Strangely, those that are tend to be German or Russian... go figure. But yeah, every mic user has been somewhat of a teamplayer so far.

Talking of high pitched mic chat... yesterday on a server someone with a high pitched voice uttered the die hard phrase 'yippy-kiyay-mother****er' when we won the map
