AvP3

it looks very good. IMO, this needs more work.

I don't like going from A - B. Maybe something like open map

I think we'll be seeing some degree of open endedness like we did in the other AvP games.
They almost always allowed you to go about several ways in carrying out an objective in later levels.
The first few levels are usually very structured and linear as it's easing you into the storyline and getting you accustomed to the gameplay.

Either way, I don't think we'll be disappointed... this is Rebellion's baby afterall.

the thing that bothered me is that long jumps are precalculated...which might be a bad thing when doing unconventional actions.

also elements of simplification are shown...marked enemies and so forth.

this is a game for adults...no need to make it retard friendly.

The combat animations could use some work. Besides the fatalities, it's rather mediocre.
The shoulder cannon and its firing affect does the movies justice. Yeah, the predetermined leap points are somewhat disappointing but an overall improvement over the previous games. It looks good but nothing to rave about atm. I Am sure that we will see some improvements in the coming months.

I'm going to have to agree.
After watching the walkthrough videos, this looks like shit.

The graphics are phenomenal but other than that it's too simplified.
Rebellion should realize that the people wanting a new AvP game are primarily PC players, which should atleast encourage them to not half-ass with the PC version.

You're talking about these videos, right?

Those videos are of the PS3 version, why shouldn't the console version be made more console friendly?

i ****ing love these games...predator for the winsies

no colonial marines, no care

That jump mode doesn't seem so bad... the numbers of places available to jump didn't seem limited, and this is easier than finding out after trying several times that a ledge isn't accessible.

when he killed that marine that was rather sweet.

I think this looks fantastic. As for the jumping, I'd much rather have this, than the crappy limited jump of the second game where you could only jump through the trees if they had massive ledges sticking out of them.

Are they really not present other than cannon fodder, or have we just not seen them? Not having a marine campaign in an environment like this (especially when it worked so well in the previous iterations of this game) seems like a waste. :O

Australia and Germany won't see this game, that's for sure

the "trophy kills" are hilariously violent.

edit: holy shit I came when he used the head to get through the ret scan :D oh man lols, must buy

There will be a marine campaign, they just have not shown it yet.

Thanks. Also, is this backed by Fox? One of the things I really enjoyed about the previous game(s) was that they were pretty true to the movies (to a fault, actually). The weapon design and sounds were apparently taken where possible from movie archives.

no no no...you're so wrong...do you even know how much i used to make extreme jumping maneuvers while in a firefight. look at it now, how long it takes to perform a jump...it's useless.

The predator gameplay videos look nice, but I want to see some marine gameplay action. I always loved the marine campaign in the previous games.

The marine campaign is creepy too, I hate it when the beeper thing went off randomly with no one around.

It clearly takes so long because the guy playing it is useless, and the camera sensitivity is dogshit on this playthrough. Get it on PC so you can change the mouse sensitivity and there would be no problem with this jumping.

i'm talking about aliens: colonial marines (a game by gearbox)

I wasn't replying to you.

I was replying to this.

I know what you were referring to.

I hope it's as good as the second one was. I especially loved the marine campaign. Games like DooM3 aren't scary because you spend the entire game tensed waiting for things to jump out at you, when they inevitably do, it's not scary. AvP though, you can see things getting closer on the motion tracker and find yourself wildly spinning trying to see just where the hell the things are, that's when they drop onto you from the ceiling.

Sir, that is the letter "X," not the symbol "×". Should be 360, yesno?

NO IT'S NOT A LOWER CASE "x" I used the multiplication symbol

And another thing, if Fear 2 has taught me anything, never trust a game that's been developed for consoles primarily and then the PC version came afterward.

Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but I'm too lazy to search.

Anyway, I heard the protoss... err, I mean predator trophy kill was too brutal and had to be removed/modified in order for them to be able to release it without an Adult rating.

Is this true? And if so, any news on how they will handle this situation?

Not true as far as I know.

Word. The f*ck. Up.

Point-and-click Predator jumping in AvP3 will be bullshit.

Well that was quick... less than a week posted and it's gone. They were short 2 minute videos that were basically the old trailers with some added in-game footage. It was showing off some of the kill animations, such as aliens being able to impale a soldier's chest with their tail or bite off a chunk of their head.

Can't seem to find an alternative host either, oh well.

In case this game does well, I am saving aside some money for it. Just worried I will be massively disappointed.
