Bad Company 2 Multiplayer Beta

I hope it won't run like shit like, for instance, ARMA2 (I know that the only remote similarity is both being war games).

Also, the map looked like something the kind of Zatar Wetlands (which was shit in case you didn't know). I hope they have some kickass urban maps.

And medic with an LMG? Or is it assault now and uses support weapons?

Yeah but Zatar sucked coz it was so big and was just a vehicle-fest. I'm sure they are putting alot of time into making balanced maps for BC2.

I've got a beta key for the PS3 here. PM me if you are interested.

EDIT: Key is gone, but pick one up if you are a fileplanet subscriber (public keys are depleted for now).
Why did I miss this :(

So I played 50 min of the beta, and I think I'm impressed?

In this beta you play in one of the game's four modes called Rush (Attack\Defend) mode. You start in the class choose screen and you pick up one of the 4 classes (Assault, Engineer, Medic and Recon) of course you can customize those classes to what suits you.

The gameplay felt good and shooting your enemy really felt rewarding. Snipers were annoying, those little creeps were everywhere hiding and killing us from rooftops and inside of buildings. But thanks to destructable environments..that problem was solved.

This whole destructable environments really adds to the gameplay and makes it more intense and awesome, one time I was fighting a squad of 3 assault units, these pussies were inside the house taking cover and I was outside alone shooting at them, so I switched to my grenade launcher and just started firing at the house till it went down on their heads. That's ladies and gentlemen was one of my best moment as a gamer ever.

The map layout really does balance between vehicles and infantry combat, and thanks to the top notch sounds in the game it really felt like you're in a battlefield. I also liked how the soldiers shout "SNIIPER!" and "WHAT THE **** STOP SHOOTING AT ME!".

What I didn't like:

-The controls, I'm not really used to play FPS on consoles and it was really tricky to get a kill, actually it took me 15 minutes to get my first kill :p.

-Now you can spawn near any squad member, which really makes the squad leader useless.

-The lack of anti aliasing. But I'm sure it will look better on the PC

-Need more players in game. 24 players is not enough!

anyone know if the player max will be higher for PC? 32?

Gordon has stated in interviews that the reason behind the lower player count is simply because of hardware limitations. They have to balance between how many tanks/buildings/choppers/cars/props and everything to make the game run at a smooth framerate. If they were to allow 64 people they would have to radically scale down the maps and remove a huge % of the vehicles and other important gameplay mechanics.

That and 24 players worked absolutely fine on BC1 but wait it doesn't seem like anyone seems to remember what that was no matter everyone go back to complaining or praising about elements that were already excellent in the first game that was horribly underrated.

ESL had 5000 keys for EU players, they still might have some.

I played the game for an hour and it just felt MEH. Good thing was that snipers don't kill with one shot if they don't get a headshot. But on the other hand big maps = play ground for headless retards = 23 snipers and one guys afk at base.

The controls felt somewhat laggy, kind of like Killzone 2, but not so bad.

I didn't get a chance to drive a vehicle but tanks seemed to take a lot of damage before breaking down. Something like 4-5 rocket hits (to the side). Because of this the guy driving the tank got like 20 kills in a short time.

Discussed in the other thread. I don't see what the problem is... it sounds like it's for the best if they're going to improve stuff and get a better hold on things.

I remember checking the official BC2 site a few days before this announcement, and only seeing mention of the PS3 beta while "multiplayer demoes" for the PC and Xbox were due out early 2010. I wonder if that had anything to do with this?

Anyway, I'm mainly disappointed with the delay because its original release time(mid-December, right?) would have coincided with my winter vacation.

Exactly. They even listed the improved features that we can expect to see in the PC version.
I don't see anything wrong with slight delays if optimization is the reason.

I'm with everybody else....

*Goes back to PS3*

Also to note, me and TCfromBN have been playing quite a bit of this together...you fools should join.

This game makes love to my ears.

This game does look pretty great. The destruction is very impressive for a multiplayer game.

Played a game with Pitzy and TCfromBN last night. We owned.

Is it me or this game gets better and better each time you play it?

You got it right, good sir!

This game + the brand new surround sound system I got = bestest thing EVAR

I have to make do with my Surround headset, my room's not well-designed for a full surround-speaker system :(

Make no mistake however, my Surround headset's a proper one, none of that "Simulated Surround" bullshit, 3 speakers and 1 subwoofer in each cup, it's the closest you can get without getting actual surround speakers.

I can at least hear people sneak up behind me when playing Modern Warfare 2, hopefully the same will be true for BFBC2.;)

That's a badass headset! Would work perfectly for this game.

Holy shit, almost 200 bucks for it to be compatible with xbox/ps3/pc?!

FYI, the official MLG surround headset that isn't even proper surround(It uses stereo speakers to simulate surround) costs 300 bucks, so it's really quite cheap when compared to the other outrageous shit out there.

Don't play it to much pitz, you might get bored of it and wont want to play it when its out :)

Trust me, if I'm having this much fun on ONE map, I assume the rest of the game will be super fun also.

I remember having a super fun awesome time in the BF1942 demo with the Wake map. The full game, while great, just wasn't as awesome as Wake.

Too bad 42 SUCKED.

Yes, I said it.

Blasphemy!

I enjoyed 1942 much more than i did BF 2. Vehicle combat was actually balanced unlike in BF 2. Not to mention that it had the better mods too. If it wasn't for Desert Combat, Dice probably would have released another WW2 game.

Despite having not played it for years, my love for 42 is still one of the main reasons why I'm taking this opportunity to get back into the Battlefield series. I can honestly say, without a glimmer of hesitation, that it's my favorite MP game of all time.
