How much time did it take you, Stemot?

How much time did it take you, Stemot?

I'd say around 11 hours in total, though not with acquiring all the character trophy's and bios or solving all the riddles. I think I totalled 72% complete at the end of the story mode and I have yet to try the challenge maps. When you finish the game lets you continue to hunt the asylum for the riddles with no threat of enemies which is kind of nice.

Can anyone tell me how the final version compares to the demo in terms of performance? The demo ran very slow for me :/

If any one's played it on PC, I would also like to know the answer to this.

I only played a couple of hours of it so far, but the Joker and Harley already are some of the best characters in any game that i have played in recent years.

And the game has a pretty Bioshock-esque way of telling background story. I didn't like it much in bioshock, but I think thats because important story elements were told through the recorded tapes, which seemed to lessen the plots integrity, but in this game its all back story for characters and such, while the main plot is told though more traditional means. I like it. And there is a lot more depth to the game than I anticipated. Very pleased.

Also, Best buy is selling it with a great combo deal, you get the game of course, plus the two animated movies Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, PLUS a 10 dollar best buy gift card. A really good deal. You can order online or get it from the store it seems, since I just drove there and got it.

I've played a little over 2 hours and only 13% complete. Great game so far!

I'm waiting for a PC release, in the meantime...

Why does Batman insist on wearing his underwear on top of spandex?

Must purchase. I enjoyed the demo immensely, especially the part where you have to take out 6 bad guys stealthily while rappelling around the room with gargoyles.

Can't wait to get my hands on the PC version.

Officially the best superhero game ever. So there:-

Guinness announced this morning Batman: Arkham Asylum has become 'Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever' due to its average Metacritic score of 91.67, surpassing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Dreamcast which averaged a score of 90.

"We are so pleased to be awarding Batman: Arkham Asylum a Guinness World Record," said Gaz Deaves, Manager at Guinness. "It is a fantastic new game and due to the reaction of gaming experts we believe it has a well deserved place in the Guinness World Records book,"

That's a bit overkill.
Freedom Force would like a word with them.

The question is, what happens if some other places give it a rating which lowers the Metacritic rating below Marvel vs Capcom? Does it lose the record? Think about it!

Dunno, I'm sure there is other criteria to it.

This game is seriously brilliant, I just played it 2 hours straight without even knowing it

I recognized that as Penny-Arcade almost immediately, even without the thing on the side.

Oh man awesome.

they obviously never heard of spiderman games on playstation

Edit: is kotaku getting money from eidos or what? i seen like 5-10 news about batman lately

B:AA is way better than any spiderman game ive played.

Just played for 4 hours and I had no idea it was so late already. I'd say im about 8 hours into the game already, but I'm still at 41%

These mother****ers just told me this game is better than Spider Man 64. If they aren't right then they will pay in blood.

True but those spiderman PS1 games were some of my fav ps1 games :D

Here is the special edition pre-order bonus that some stores give out, the Arkham Asylum - Road To Arkham comic.
It's in .cbr format, but if you don't have Comic Viewer then simply rename it to a zip and you can extract the pages that way.

Don't worry about the legality of it, it was put up on the official forums and the mods let it go.

The local store here was pretty neat, bought the game today and still got all the preorder stuffs.

By _FAR_ the best licence game ever. I thought dark knight had an amazing Joker, but oh boy the one on Arkham. Madness.

"He may talk like an idiot, dress like an idiot, but don't be fooled by this! He is an idiot!"

I'm only a few hours in and at first it seemed like a solid action adventure - good, meaty combat, plenty of details and Batman goodness - but nothing amazing, and then I got to the
trippy Scarecrow bit
and holy **** it was excellent. I'm now fully engrossed and am Batman

Heh

It gets a whole lot trippier :D

Just finished it and got to say I loved it. Probably one of the most suprising games to stand out this generation and should stand up with the big hyped franchises and considering at first I thought this game would be crap I am very, very pleasantly surprised and have played it straight through the weekend (I don't remember the last time I played a game that made me did that). Mark Hamill as the Joker is brilliant in this and it is for me the darkest I've ever seen the character since TDK (I've never read the comics TBH but I'm tempted to pick up arkham asylum comic).

I was surprised to see that the stalking part of the combat was more understated to the fighting as you only need to stalk if you are in an open area and the enemies have guns otherwise just beat the **** out of them :) The combat itself is surprisingly deep and is not just hammering one button, towards the end of the game you have to be quite good at countering to get anywhere.

The game essentially plays out in a semi open world like bioshock's with lots to explore. The riddler challenge was one of the highlights for me as it encourages you to actively explore the environment but it does not make ever make it really hard for you as you can find riddler maps to help you find secrets, which is a big help as it is a pet peeve of mine in games like GTA where the game just tells you to get 200 macguffins and doesn't even show you what ones are missing so this was a very welcome feature. I really urge those playing to do the riddler challenges as they really flesh out the game with the interview tapes and subtle nods to the batman world. Also for those of you doing the arkham spirit quest
you'll never guess who it is.

It does have some flaws but not enough to detract the whole experience:
- I would have like to see the more iconic batman villains established in this game. I quite frankly don't care about killer croc or bane I want two face, mr freeze etc. so to see them as only riddler challenges was a bit disappointing.
-the ending like bioshock's is where the game falls at the last hurdle. The last boss is too easy and the enidng was quite disappointing. Plus biggest issue is who the last boss actually is. Let's just say some fans won't like it (I know samon won't).

But really if you have not played this game yet get it now!

EDIT: forgot to say but the scarecrow sections in this are the closest I have ever seen to the iconic psycho mantis scenes in MGS1 since that game.

Just got to the last boss and BAM controller out of batteries. Why god whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

I watched a youtube video of this with what I think were extra challenge maps with

Scarecrow. They totally pulled a Metal Gear Solid with that turning off bit. Also, "Use the middle stick to dodge Joker's bullet." Hilarious.

Me am so want this game.

Did anyone catch the game last night?

Wow, third Scarecrow bit was awesome, had me spooked when the screen when all ****ed up

My friend came over to my house with his PS3 and played that game for about 20 hours. Shit was so epic.
