ya it looks a bit gimmicky to me
bet it boosted sales though!

Tbh, I wish the 360 had physics capabilities like that. Consider yourselves lucky.

Without the actual PhysX card in your pc the game runs like total ass when you turn it on. I was getting ~55fps on my machine on all high settings for the demo. I turned on PhysX and it droped to 7-8 fps. The vast majority of people will not be able to use it. Think Crysis back when it came out, but a lot worse.

It's fine for anyone with a decent Nvidia card, I'm quite looking forward to seeing what they do with it.

The game is basically being pushed back for PC just so they can add dynamic paper physics. At least that's what I hear.

Dynamic paper, destructible environments, physics led smoke and fog, flags and tear-able cloth etc All aesthetic but they add to the immersion.

You're not supposed to turn it on unless you have a good Nvidia card.

It ran fine for me with Physx on, I have a 8800gt.

Just picked it up for PS3.

The Physx stuff for PC looks pretty cool tbh.

Non-physx version of the game has leaked on the net, so surprisingly there excuse for the PC delay seems valid.

Why? Can you back up that statement?

That they try to make people believe buying a Physx-capable card actually performs better than a CPU by very poorly optimizing it for non-Physx-systems.
They should've just used a CPU-based physics engine instead of this crap, because they can do exactly the same, except it eats less FPS.

I also found it very interesting that Nvidia bought PhysX in the era where the ATI 4870/4850 dominated(with the GTX 280 at $700), probably to make people believe their cards are better because of it.

Ahh, so its only Nvidia? I'm using Radeon 4850.

Been playing this on 360. It's the best game I've played in a while. The boss fights are well done and the graphics are just gorgeous.

Then it goes to CPU emulation, and from my experiences(Mirror's Edge) it's horribly slow.

Yep. I had an issue with ME where it wouldn't recognise PhysX on my system, so when I tried to run it and a window smashed I'd be reduced to 2fps.

I do think though that it's ridiculous that this kind of physics emulation can't be handled competently on a modern CPU.

It can and has already been done(even on far worse CPU's compared to today's), that's why PhysX is a commercial piece of bullsh*t as i already said.

Just got it. I'm loving every aspect of the game. I can't stop playing it.

I'm waiting on the official PC release. Playing too many other games atm.

Oh man, the funniest thing happened to me while playing this morning. As I was crouched around a corner where the bathrooms are, I turned on Detective Mode and noticed a lunatic screaming in what appeared to be the women's bathroom. I covered at the corner and he suddenly disappeared. Just as I was about to get out of the cover, the little bastard jumped me! I jumped about a foot.

hahaha something similar happened to me in there...
i had already beaten the game and had returned to solve one of the "riddles"
i had no idea that there were still enemies about after you complete the story, so i casually walked into the bathroom expecting to do my "business" and walk right out
the lunatic screamed and pounced on me and i nearly threw my controller at the screen i was so surprised!!

The pacing in this game is fantastic. I would also concur with what Lambda said in the 'Rate & Discuss' thread about actively trying to solve the riddles in each area. Some are piss easy but others require a bit of work and are satisfying to solve.

Just started the Botanical Gardens section.

I reckon I'm about three quarters of the way through
Just about to go and face Killer Croc
and I'm having an epic time. No doubt that Scarecrow is the star of the game though.

Finished this game last night. Don't think there was a moment of it that I didn't enjoy. ****ing ace.

Same here, finished it yesterday. Normally I find there certain points in games where I start to lose interest but this this had me gripped the whole way.

Was wondering though,

How they are going to transfer the control of the Cryptographic Sequencer over to the PC, with the analogue sticks I thought this was quite intuitive, I can see using the keyboard to be quite tedious.

It works fine, with left and right keys moving the left circle round and left and right mouse moving the right. Sounds like a bad compromise of the console version, but I found it just as effective, if not more.

Finished the game today. Probably one of my favourite games of this generation (which is no mean feat against Mass Effect, GTA IV, Mario Galaxy etc.) and I really hope there's a sequel featuring some villains not featured in this game.

The end hinted at Two-Face and the game was definitely missing some Mr Freeze action.

For anyone who is doing the challenges and having a hard time with the Shock and Awe map, mainly the Extreme mode, I devised a strategy for myself that in the end worked quite well.

If you haven't noticed, weapons seem to persist through rounds, so over time the shock batons and the lead pipes really begin to add up, such that in the final almost round every enemy is wielding something, and it becomes a huge pain. However, you can use the platforms to your advantage. The enemies only try to access the gun locker that is located on the platform to your right as you begin each round. What I did was fought the first round on the initial platform (since they don't go for the gun then anyway), and then fought rounds two and three on the right platform to protect the gun locker.

Finally in the fourth round most of the weapons from the previous rounds are either on the main platform or the right platform, so then I used to the left platform. You leave the gun locker unprotected, but by the time a guy comes back with the gun, you should have finished off enough enemies that you can easily deal with him.

And that is how I got three bats!

At the end cutscene where
There's a crate of titan floating and a hand reaches up to grab it, whos hand was it for you? For me it was Killer Croc, for my brother it was Bane, and for a friend of mine it was Scarecrow, weird

Ha! Interesting, maybe it depends on the difficulty level?

It was Bane for me (hard) and Killer Croc for my brother (medium).

Me, my brother, and my friend were all playing on medium and it was different for all of us.

Was scarecrow for me (Medium). The game was great. One of the best, if not the best game I've played this year.

Wait a minute! It changes?!?! I finished it on medium and hard and got croc both times!!

Was Killer Croc for me on Hard dificulty.

Great game. Couldn't get enough of it. Want moar! Sequel soon plox!

so I put over an hour into this game so far and I know I'm hooked. Game crashed during the end of the long walk with joker and it pissed me off but I restarted and it was fine. Very polished game and my xbox controller works great with it plus it has games for windows so all the achievements are there and it feels like i'm XBL anyway

so glad i got this cheap
Also in case you missed it, heres the trailer for Arkham 2!

I hope it isn't fighting around another Arkham again? I was told its moved to the streets of gotham itself.
