Well, epic defecation can occur.

Ever ate just a bit too much peanuts?

I am so looking forward to getting this game. The only problem I have is with the mouth movements when NPCs talk. It's kind of off balance. Is it fixed in the full version?

I never noticed any trouble with it.

Of course you didn't. Stemot to the ruthless defence of his favourite new game! First, 'twas FEAR 2, and now Arkham. It's a rather stale show, stemot.

Pull your head out of your arse Samon. I too noticed the lip-synch was off in the demo. I was just stating how I never had the same problem on the full retail 360 version.
Speaking of stale shows, it doesn't take much for you to want to start a confrontation these days does it Samon? Chill out.

It's not a huge issue but yes it is still there I noticed it more with the joker whilst he was on tv screens.

This is a damn good game. I stayed up until four last night playing it. Everything flows really well. The free-form combat actually works (I had my doubts) and is challenging and damn fun (playing on hard) and you have a bunch of different options. Sometimes I swoop in and start off a fight with a solid kick to the chest. Sometimes I pick the first guy off stealthily, sometimes I knock down three with a remote controlled batarang before charging in, but my favourite so far is setting up a trap with the explosive gel and knocking out two or three guys while they're down.

Of course, if I can, I prefer to pick them off one at a time, silently.

the reviews have been alarmingly positive for this, been moving the past few weeks, so i havent touched my 360, but im buying this the minute i get home.

Might trade some old games for this. Sounds great. Replay value is prolly crap though.

There are the challenge maps you can unlock through the game, in which you can either have a brawl and try to get maximum combo scores, or go Silent Predator and try to clear a room of armed thugs in the fastest possible time. There is also the opportunity to carry on playing around the Asylum and find the Riddles you missed on your way through.

Though these bonuses will obviously wear thin after a while.

You know, I do wish people wouldn't judge games based on replay value. I find it such an archaic value.

60 euro demands replay value. Otherwise I might rent it. Ps3 has extra content too right?

The only extra content the PS3 has are challenge maps that allow you to play as Joker with different gadgets and moves. Hoping they make it into the PC version as well.

Although I kinda agree with samon on replay value (if i love a game that much I just won't care after all) but yes this game probably hasn't got the best replay value. I got all the riddler challenges done before I finished the game and after that there is only the challenge maps.

was able to pick this up for $38 last week :)

the good:
-awesome combat system
-a good mix of brawler action, stealth and puzzle solving/"criminal investigation"
-some really fun boss battles
-a surprising amount of variety to the island's environments
-lotsa classic batman characters and great voice acting (especially M.H. as Joker)
-dark and mature

the bad:
-a little on the short side
-some objectives become a tad tedious
-the final boss battle is somewhat disappointing imho

overall, i really enjoyed the game. no major faults.
i'd go as far as to say it's the best comic book character based game i've yet to play
definitely worth what i paid :)

What exactly does the Joker extra entail? I watched a video of it in E3 and it they seemed to be showing it off as some sort of Joker death match bullshit. Your description isn't completely filled with snide cynicism, so I'm hoping maybe that was wrong or something.

It's simply the same challenge rooms as you get as Batman (unlocking them as the game goes) which entail either fighting with combos to increase your score, or timed silent predator rooms. The difference being that instead of controlling Batman, your using the Joker instead, with new moves and taunts, as well as more Joker like gadgets.

Yes, I've got that. What exactly does he do that's stealthy or whatever?

I'm not exactly sure, not having actually played it.

Well than we can all safely say it's just the Joker running around in the combat challenge room fighting off minion after minion, essentially copy/pasted gameplay from the regular challenge rooms.

You know, I do wish people wouldn't judge games based on replay value. I find it such an archaic value.

I kind of feel the opposite way. As games increase in price, many people expect to get more for their dollar. Games can rarely extend their length without getting stale part of the way through, so having incentive to go back through and replay it really adds that extra something. The Lego Batman/Indiana Jones/Star Wars games are a perfect example of it being done right, whereas Bioshock is a good example of it being done wrong.

The interesting thing is I find games cheaper now than they were years ago, such as back in the N64 days. I remember some N64 games costing over $100 Canadian, back when $100 went a lot further. It was ridiculous! This game is the first game I've purchased since GTA IV, so I particularly can live with paying $69.99 Canadian for it, especially years later factoring in the inflation over 10 years.

Someone said something about paying 60 Euro though...that on the other hand seems extremely expensive compared to my price.

Yes, or the silent predator ones, which is what I said before.

I paid 69e for AA... Games in Finland are so damn expensive. New games are usually priced at 60-80e. :/

I liked it. Whould love to see a sequal done in Gotham. Like GTA or something. Drive ya batmobile, fly the bat plane and shit. But yeah. Fun game.

I agree with everyone who's bigging this game up - Arkham Asylum is very good. There's a few niggles with pacing and the detective elements are too contrived, but these gripes are so outweighed by the positives it seems churlish to bring them up. The real star for me is the combat system. It's the polar opposite to the terrible one at a time combat in Assassin's Creed and succeeds in both allowing you to fight large groups of people in a convincing manner and doing so without overpowering Batman or by hobbling his opponents. This combination lets you be a super hero while still being vulnerable. When you knock ten shades out of a room full of screaming maniacs it isn't because they're weak and you're godlike, it's because you're better than them. It's because you're the ****ing Dark Knight.

I heard you, but seeing as there is no real way I can think of that could work well, I doubt it. If it actually is there, it will most likely be pointless, stupid, and redundant, like the combat challenges anyway.

No, it is there, watch the Joker videos on youtube, some of them are silent predator ones, such as the one where he is stalking the guards in the Arkham Mansion records hallway.
It works exactly as it does with Batman except using the joker model and a few of his gadgets, such as the hand buzzer and x-ray specs (though i'm interested to see how they have found an alternative to the grapple).

I want to play the PC version but I just couldn't wait to get my hands on the game
shame really because it looks so much nice on my comp :|

Oh yeah, third encounter with Scarecrow was incredibly awesome. Pulled that off really ****ing well.

I watched the videos and it is even sadder than the combat mode. He literally just sprints around and does silent takedowns. He has remote controlled explosive teeth. And a gun. A GUN. All the fun of Batman silent predator without the depth or challenge.
