Black Friday 2010

Ah, the wonders of internet shopping in my undies.

Picked up seasons 2 and 3 of Mad Men, Fight Club and Inglorious Bastards on bluray for 40 bucks. Not too bad.

I woke up (rather, was awaken by a phone call) at 1 pm. Now it's almost 4 and I haven't even made it out of bed. No shopping for me. Didn't see anything in the ads that I wanted anyways.

TomTom GPS. Another Wii controller+nunchuck, Golden eye for the Wii, and Fable 3 for the 360.
2 kickass games for the price of 1. Bought a couple of books and Toy Story 3 on Amazon too.

Also according to the local news, people at the local best buys did everything in an orderly fashion. So yeah, some places suck more than others.

That video was ridiculous. Its like the American version of Spain's Running of the Bulls, or all of Europe's soccer riots. Only people actually benefit a little from winning in this.

Thats because Best Buy is smart. They hand out tickets to people in line for products they have on good sales. When they run out of tickets, they run out of the product. Even if someone gets to it first, they can't buy it without the ticket. Most of the places in the video look like Walmarts or something, where kinda dumb people work and really dumb people shop.

Anyways, I found WWII in HD but it was regular price. Bought it anyways. Chicken Parm grinder was delicious as expected.

Got these all for under $60!

Idiots in my city acting stupid

That sucks, because all combined, its really only worth, maybe 10 bucks.

*person dies while shopping on black friday*

*assume mayhem and death occur at every establishment from then on*

Sound logic indeed.

I'm not just blowing smoke here. My girlfriend has told me stories about how she has had to fight older women for toys when she was just a little girl. Lucky for her, she's about as strong as the average 17 year old football player.

Believe me, I've heard stories from her where her dad threw some guy over a checkout line because he tried to steal something out of their cart, or her mom punched a lady in the face that was trying to take a bag out of her hands that had the new guitar hero in it... Black Friday shoppers are the worst, and that's fact. I hate driving around the shopping centers here on Saturdays because of the insane traffic, I can't imagine doing it on Black Friday. I'd run over old women crossing the street just out of sheer rage.

Went to get some snow boots at K-mart, wasn't bad at all. Probably like a regular busy Saturday.

Well you live in a terrible neighborhood then. You know what my Black Friday experience was like? I had to park kinda far out in the strip mall's parking lot, and then I crossed through some traffic where people kindly stopped to let me and some other people go. Then someone held the door for me, and I held the door for some other people. Then at a different store me and some girl held the door for each other, and we laughed.

Crazy.

And then when you actually walked into the store after receiving a few kind gestures, you were suddenly pushed about in a frenzy of shoppers and chaos, and thrown to the ground by lunatics. Right? Otherwise there probably weren't a lot of good deals over there.

Oh man, that sounds tragic.

Dunno if anyone cares, but here's the situation.

I know it's a blown capacitor. This seems to occur 80-90% of the time in new LCD's due to the manufacturer being cheap and buying old ones for their TV's. It's an extremely easy fix that requires low-level soldering skills. Problem is, opening it will surely void the warranty.

So I called Target. No dice. They'll take it back for exactly the amount paid, but they cannot offer an exchange because this TV is completely sold out at every Target in North America for the time being. Also, the customer service rep I spoke with could not guarantee that they would ever stock this model again. Great.

I am not willing to give up the 2+ hours I stood in 6 degree's in the middle of the night for this thing, so I'm gonna fight for it to be fixed or exchanged before I return it. It's already too late to take advantage of other TV Black Friday deals at other stores, so I'm either stuck with getting this fixed or buying another model for full price. So, I must go with the only other option: use the manufacturer's limited warranty.

Of course, upon calling their customer service, I was rerouted to some thirdparty call center in, I'm assuming, India. I told them everything that happened and they said I'll get a call from a service technician for the company on Monday or Tuesday. The 1-year limited warranty explicitly states that they will send a technician for an on-site repair. Problem is, who the **** knows when they hell that'll be. It's the holidays on top of that.

Now here's a question. I know I must wait for the techniction before ultimately returning the TV (and I have 3 months to do that). But, if the technician comes and either charges me for replacement parts or says he cannot fix it because it wasn't the company's fault for the TV being faulty (i.e. shipper did it, my electricity had a power surge, other bullshit beyond my control that voids the warranty), should I attempt to fix it myself? Like I said, I'm almost positive it's just faulty capacitors. I guess that "popping" sound I heard could have been other things, but that comes with the risk of voiding Target's return policy. Anyway, the question is: If I opened up the TV after the technician cannot fix the TV for various reasons without charging me, and failed to fix it myself, do you guys think Target will know when I attempt to return it for my money back?

If they aren't willing to fix it free (within the month), including shipping, take it back. Don't throw good money after bad. Even if you fix it, it sounds like a piece of shit. By the time it's shipped back they'll be a better deal on a better TV. LCD TVs/Monitors are drastically lower priced these days and it has nothing to do with Black Friday. I've seen similar deals on televisions simply for everyday sales. Get your money back first thing tomorrow morning and then get something else online (for instance: Cyber Monday.)

Might find something in the link below for Newegg's extended Black Friday sales (28th), and Cyber Monday (29th) should give you more options (more sales on TV's and including sales at other online retailers.)

http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=264&name=Televisions

I would avoid 'no name' televisions and go with something from Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, etc.

Cyber Monday is tomorrow Sixteenth. maybe you can get some kinda money back and buy something on their website. I highly recommend Samsung though, I know just about every retailer is selling them much cheaper now too

You confused the shit out of me. I thought it was the 29th, and you said tomorrow 16th. 16th isn't his name, so that was probably what threw me, but regardless it should have a comma before it, Warped.

Lean to punctuate, damn. You're a disgrace.

(Lol)
