Well I didn't read the first three pages so...
Or the first post?

If your gonna post in a thread, at least read the first post.... I mean c'mon.

id be fine with a sc mmo.

just as long as the new game is sc, im happy

HELL YES! Please be true as much as I would like another SC RTS a SC MMO would just be so GD cool!

Starcraft MMO...

I don't see myself getting to into that..but I'll probably try it :(

I don't think Blizzard are ready to announce a competitor to WoW just yet. Hopefully we are either looking at D3 in the spirit of diablo or sc2 in the spirit of starcraft. Maybe in 2009 it is time for a new mmo from blizzard, and that may very well be WoSC.

Ofcourse a new IP could be interesting, but I highly doubt they will come up with something as good as starcraft.

A starcraft MMO would kick ass! But Blizz has to make it something other than WoW with different classes and zones. I can see them putting in a microwaving skill into a starcraft MMO instead of the cooking skill in WoW.

If it's another MMO, someone's dog is going to die.

Starcraft MMOG? FFS, NO!

Another storyline killed.

....NOOOOEESSSSS!!!!

of course it says it's not confirmed... but i hope its NOT true.

Firingsquad sums up my thoughts on why it probably isnt an SC MMO pretty well.

Firingsquad said:
A post at Computer and Video Games suggests that Blizzard is about to announce a StarCraft MMO in Korea.

While the likelihood of a StarCraft-related game being announced in Korea is high, after all, Korea is famous for its fanaticism towards the brand (something that did not transfer over to WarCraft III), FiringSquad is of the opinion that it's not going to be a MMO:

# World of WarCraft is still in its prime and arguably still reaching for new users. To announce a totally new MMO so soon would undercut support for WoW and create competition between Blizzard products. This is not the way Blizzard operates, it has always spaced out its RTS and Diablo franchises in the past, and it will space out its MMOs as well.
# The recent job announcements page may have confused CVG into thinking that the game being announced is an MMO. However, that's not how the industry operates; games are announced when they are well in development and the core design is more or less finalized. To hire lead engine and tools programmers at this stage, as well as a lead artist, suggests that the development of the new MMO is only starting.

Thus, the most likely announcement is StarCraft II. The setting of the announcement suggests that Blizzard is specifically looking to impress Koreans and likely SC2 will appeal to hardcore SC fans here in the West and in Korea, unlike the more casual WarCraft III.

MMOs are not healthy for the gaming community.

F*ck SC mmo...

I want SC2 damnit! *shaking of fist*

No singleplayer and non-existant plot.

What does that have to do with the gaming community? I can see that MMOs could be a problem in other ways, but they definitely help and strengthen the community FAR more than they hurt it.

Don't forget the drama. That really helps strengthening bonds.

Drama is a natural product of people interacting. These boards have very little to do with any MMOs, and yet we have a shit-ton of drama. You're saying it weakens the community by acting as a community does, then?

NO, RLY! Drama is like th byproduct of septennial doings of sshiton sherlock eptizegous winter humongous injectiozodids fingknhs ,vknv.

They are stupidly addicting, a big ****ing timewaster with simple uncreative methods to creating that addiction factor. It's a game that is way too ****ing easy to make and it traps thousands. It's the death of creative and interesting gaming, and it poisons the community by turning people into addicts.

Like I said, whether or not it's creative or innovative or has moral artistic integrity has shit to do with the community itself. WOW probably has more of a community than the rest of the world's games put together - in fact, it's community in a never-before-seen sense of the word, with guilds and raids and everything like that. Also, WOW addiction, if anything, would bolster a community, not kill it.

If you let a video game control you life and cant step away from it then you have more problems than a dam video game, period!

its gonna be another expansion to War 3

If I'm wrong, I'll eat my hat.

I would really love that, but I'm pretty sure you would be wise to go buy yourself a chocolate hat.

CVG's sources could be the assistant editors brother's uncle's sister's wife's roomates dad, who works for the same company that restocks the vending machines at Blizzard.

I hate it when they claim to have sources yet wont reveal even one. I smell bullshit...

Hmmmm, I always found the people who said MMO's are not good for the gaming industry been people who never actually got into an MMO. I can understand why you would think that way, hell. I lost my life to World of Warcraft at one point. I played it 12hours a day at one point. But looking back, I enjoyed every minute of it. I could personally choose other things to do obviously. But looking back I'm glad I played the game. I still play the odd MMO when they come out, as a very casual MMO player. But hell, I can't wait for the next big MMO.

Basiclly even playing a game can be a new life experiance. If you have never experianced it try not to judge it as bad.

I dont think mmo's are a bad thing for gaming

but are kind of anoying

been spending a lot of time to just get a +1 item of something or stuff like that,no saying that is a bad but not the taste of everyone

My only hesitance toward an SC MMO would be that I just bought BC and I want to go through all its awesomeness before changing ships.

Well, everyone asumes that if there was a Starcraft MMO it will be exactly like Warcraft. But comparing both games I find it very difficult to imagen how a Starcraft MMO could end up anything like World of Warcraft. If anything I would have thought it would end up been a first/third person shooter/vehicle combat game. Much like planetside but there been a war between the factions. Exactly the same approch huxley is taking. Meaning two factions that fight with guns who have characters they develope. Then the Zerg which are for people who just like playing every now and then. You can get more armor and better weapons and vehicle skills for your human characters but the zergs stay much the same. One based around progression the other about simple zerg fun.

Thats how I would vision it anyway.

If an SC:MMO emerged as an MMOFPS, or just something different from an MMORPG, I'd probably splooge all over myself.

I agree. A starcraft MMO would only work as an FPS. Even then, I probably wouldn't play it though. God, just give us starcaft 2 already!! :frown:

Oh god, pretty please not let TCfromBN be right, and let it be Sc2. Wait god? I'm sorry,
Oh science, pretty please not let TCfromBN be right, and let it be Sc2?

Looking at the order of that list... It looks like it just might unfortunately be Diablo 3. :|

It's going to be World of Warcraft 2.

Just kidding.

I honestly think it will be a starcraft game. It will either be an MMORPG Starcraft (hope not), an RTS Starcraft (I hope so), or the longshot, an MMORTS Starcraft.

If it ends up being the 3rd one, let it be known who the first was to call it.
