... always seems very poignant and refreshing to me for some reason. I'm wearing a sweatshirt, it's pretty chilly outside (30s in the morning like this, and at night when I'm usually out) and walking around comfortably warm today I was thinking... and there's not a single song better suited to this weather than '84 Pontiac Dream, imo.

Do any of you equate seasons with particular types of music, or particular bands?

I always associate fall/early winter with old school emo (like early saves the day, midtown, and (gulp) new found glory), most likely because that's what I was listening to when I met my wife (we met Nov 4th 2001)

In my country, it's just rain or shine.

Nevertheless, nothing beats listening to downtempo chill out music on a rainy day

The weather here is unpredictable at pretty much any time of the year, so nah, not really. :)

Well here it's that sort of crisp chilliness where the air is very fresh and clear. Like blustery, but without the wind sort of, and a beautiful day.

What I'm saying is that today's weather:weather in general :: BOC:music

Explosions in the Sky is my Fall music. Unfortunately Fall seems to be ending already here (seemed like a week ago it was 70, now we're getting frost so thick it looks like snow) so I'll soon be switching to Godspeed You Black Emperor.

I'm in NC too, as far as I'm concerned the summer lasted until about a week ago (when it was indeed in the 70s) and now it's late fall already (30s at night).

Tis always the season to be Explosions in the Sky. I dunno, BOC just have too many 'rubbish' songs for me to listen to a whole album from them *shrug*.

Funny, I thought I had the entire discography, but I've never seen these "rubbish" songs you speak of ;)

Time of the season always plays a pretty big role in what I'm listening to. I'll bike to school and back listening to any old song, but when it comes to walking to places or sitting around reading or drawing it's around about now where bands like Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, BoC and other, more underlooked artists I haven't listened to as much through the year make an appearance on my MP3 player. On my bike ride to school though I have to go past these woods and in the late afternoon, when the sun is really shining, it looks fantastic. I don't really like listening to 'soft' stuff on my bike as it just... doesn't fit, if you follow (Intergraation, from then new Venetian Snares album, does however, and it's shit like that I love listening to whilst biking) but upon seeing this scene every afternoon it really does make me wish I could put my bike down, put on In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country and just walk the rest of the way home.

I remember last year when I went for a walk around my block round about 2 nights before Christmas. It was pretty early but it was already dark and I pretty much crammed my MP3 player with stuff like BoC, A Silver Mt. Zion, Four Tet and Autechre and just went for a stroll. I remember there was this one house, right at the edge of this street before it veered off towards a small wooded area, that was just coated in these really soft blue and green christmas decoration lights, and all they did was gently pulse, eluminating the entrance to this wood in this eerie bask of green and blue light. I had 'Further' on by Autechre at the time, from the Amber album, and it was truely a beautiful scene to look at whilst listening to such a song.
