Borderlands

I've found two secrets. The first one is a secret claptrap in Fyrestone that you can see if you jump on a building. You can't reach it though, damn invisible barriers. I did some research and found out it was just a joke/ easter egg that the devs didn't think anyone would find.

The second is a basement in New Haven that you can only enter if you have just accepted the quest "Another Piece of the Puzzle" and not done anything further with the quest. Here's a vid:

Just dinged level 16. Enjoying myself so far.

wat

I've been playing it with zero fps drops on 360 with the exception of a god awful chain reaction of explosions that almost locked my game up.

I did install the game on the hard drive and it still runs like crap, or maybe thats the cause but I don't want to risk my xbox destroying a fourth game for me.
If I shoot a bandit from like 2m the fps drops to a friggin powerpoint presentation. I'll take some videos of it later. It seems like the blood is the main cause of fps drops, heads popping etc. cause the fps to go powerpoint mode.

How challenging are you guys finding the game? I just got to lvl 26 and the game went from semi challenging to piss easy. I found this shotgun/smg gun which made me a friggin god. Badass bruisers, etc, all go down like butter on lava. I don't even bother to use the action skill on soldier since it's just easier to run next to the guys and melt their faces.

Just to clarify, I do think this is an awsome game. I just hope it gets harder, since playing on god mode makes great game boring :/

That's strange. Although on occasion I think I have noticed slight drops when a massive amount of gore is onscreen. It's pretty challenging right now. Enemies are actually taking down my shields and bringing me down to my last sliver of hp now even with shitass weapons. Cover is becoming an even bigger necessity.

Oh wow you hit a solid brick wall once you do all the missions. There is nothing to do after that except play with your friends, go for all the achievements, or re-roll another character class. ;(

Start over again with new game +? I can imagine you hit a wall once you ding level 50 though.

That sucks. But I'll probably reroll or be playing L4D2 anyway. :)

Having a huge amount of fun with this game at the moment. Level 23, about to kill Mad whats his face in his car?

And after that New Haven. That is when the game world really opens up.

not really the enemies get tougher and its much more fun. end game content is almost as fresh as the original if you play in a nice group. also i got to lvl 38 and this game is really getting more fun the more i play. put about 23 hrs into it so far

Once you do new game + with your character again, apparently the mobs get much tougher, and the bosses drop improved versions of the same loot as the last play-through.

This game really feels like WoW to me, which I like. Always liked grinding to get that one item you want, and you can (kind of) do that in this game.

Nice addiction. Its definitely different, and for that, I can respect it.

I say in about 10 hrs I'll probably get bored with it but for the time being I feel like I'm getting my money worth

I'm getting close to 30 hours, and still haven't broken lvl 30. Got a brick at 28 and a Soldier at 19 and Hunter at 17. Good fun.

just hit 50 with my soldier D:

I'll probably finish the second play through with him since I'm pretty close anyways.

I'm stuck on the, "Well that's your problem right there" quest where you have to close 3 fuel line valves for Lucky. I've got the other two, but the third one is enclosed in a cage and I have no idea how to reach it. I've tried looking for a switch, blasting it, and even tried using the runner to hop over the damned thing. How the hell do you reach that valve?!?!

BTW, am I the only one who thinks vehicle combat in this game is frustrating as hell? It's easier to just blast bandit patrol runners on foot with a powerful rocket launcher imo and it took me like 5 deaths before finally wasting Mad Mel.

More vehicle types, and customizable guns would've improved vehicle combat immensely. Also, does the vehicle level up with the character?

you have to jump on the rocks behind it to get into the cage to turn off the valve. The vehicle gains health as you level and some damage I think but the rocket launcher becomes less effective as you go on. To kill guys on foot I just run them over.

Ok so I tested the game on my 7950gt (below listed min. requirements) and the game works alright on medium details and less than max res. Thing is it overheats my graphics card to hell, so I'm pretty much ****ed. Oh well looked interesting, maybe when I build me a new rig.

If you're Mordecai and you've got point invested in Bloodwing you can take out vehicles with one hit from Bloodwing. I'm at level 33 and can take out a car with a pistol. It's ridiculous.

I have an 8800 GT *Dunno sizes* and I run the game on max.

same here, it only chugs a bit in big areas with lots of explosions and effects going on at the same time

I could blow up cars with a Blast Viper pistol (x4 explosion damage) at lv. 20.

BTW, I tried shooting Skagzilla in the ass like you suggested earlier, and I didn't score any critical damage. :p

I got a shotgun which fires exploding shells, rather nifty.

Skagzilla and whatever the huge ass Rakk was were both AWESOME battles. I had an audience of like 5 friends in my room for both of them and they were pretty impressed with the game as a result.

Is there no split-screen co-op on the PC?

I didn't mean you score crits, rather that's the only place you can do any actual damage besides shooting its mouth due to its armored front. Butthoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooole.

The boom stick is very fun. It's unfortunate however that every boss weapon becomes useless very quickly, if not immediately.

Got a 9800GTX, and runs great for the first five minutes at 40+ FPS, and then steadily decreases FPS over a period of 15 minutes till all I'm getting is 10-15FPS ;(

I'm bored with the game, but I haven't retrieved the minekey yet. Does thing eventually get interesting?

Storywise, the game blows...

But once you leave Fyrestone, the game starts to get more fun with a new variety of enemies.

What I wouldn't do, to get my hands on some of your guys PC's. Or better yet, to know just what your expectations are performance wise. My daughters PC is getting up there in age, yet has no problems running games like Borderlands or GRAW2 more or less smoothly. I'm curious to see the configurations of the PC's that many are using. Perhaps it's just me, but so often it seems that those of you with uber-powerful PC's either have fantastic performance or have utter problems/crashes. There never seems to be a gray area. Either that, or your performance expectations are just too unrealistic. Of course performance varies from person to person. What I think is smooth gameplay, may seem jerky to others. Many people also seem to put too much stock into what their FPS is for any given game, than how the game actually runs.

I do honestly wish that one of you lived close to me. So that I could take look under the hood & tinker around with your PC's.. 90% of you have better PC's than I do, yet I hardly ever seem to have as many problems. Perhaps I just am able to settle for less & thus don't really know what I'm missing?

8800gt and E8400 Core2Duo, 4 gigs of RAM. Runs fine at all high, 1680x1050. It stuttered slightly every now and then earlier today until I remembered that I'd left Folding@Home running :)

I don't get this game at all. It doesn't seem like there's much more to it than ploughing half brain-dead through mob after boring mob, using weapons that feel more like HP sappers than actual guns. Where is the fun?

That's pretty much my setup.

How about the OS?

I'm curious if more people that have Vista installed, regardless of the version, are having more problems than those with say XP or Win7? We all know Vista is junk. Even if you have no problems with it, it's still junk. Does anyone here have Vista installed & have problems with the game running correctly? I have Vista Ultimate 32, but I have no intention of installing it just to test with.

There are also too many variables as well. Such as Bios versions, driver versions & hardware drivers to contend with via just reading.

My PC is my sig. The only difference is my E6400 is running at stock 2.13GHz.
My daughters PC is as stated earlier, Opteron 165, 8500GT, 2GB DDR500. Both are running XP Pro.

Played it on both 64bit Vista and Win7, no problems on either. And Vista isn't junk, biatch.
