Borderlands

got the fast transit system up, new gun slot, and +5 back pk slots. this game is more fun than most anything else i have. sad part is i have uncharted, batman, dirt 2, operation flashpoint, and the new ratchet and this game is the most fun out of all of them for the time being.

I got the transit system up last night myself.

1) Uncharted looks great, but I'm not about to spend $300 on a PS3.
2) Batman was a big disappointment for me, though the Joker was fantastic.
3) Dirt 2 - Not played
4) OFP:DR is fun, though for me, it just does not live up to the original. I guess because the editor is not the same, so the anticipation of making my own worlds after I play through, is just not there. I didn't care all that much for ARMA2, though it's not a bad game, which had the editor that should have gone with OFP:DR.

I love Borderlands. 22 levels later & I still can't put my finger on just what it is that I like so much, but I am having just as much fun now, if not more so, than I did when I first started. Playing Co-op with my daughter really makes it much more fun as well. Now that she has the game-play mechanics down, her & I play about 2 hrs a day in the evening & are kicking butt.

Got to New Haven yesterday with my Berserker. Can't remember which quest I'm on, something about killing someone..go figure. But, I've realized...basing this character's skills around Berserk = deadly. I take down Badass Bandits in less than 5 seconds. Just aim at the head, click a lot, call it good. Or just rush up to one of the weaker guys, take him out, then you get your bonuses for melee damage and resistance, and you're unstoppable.

There was a point where there were three (3) turrets with laser point and rockets holding us all back *3 other snipers, I think...* So I just started using berserk's regenerative properties to move up. Got to the last turret, ABOUT TO HIT THE BUTTON to travel...no...down. Did my best to take the guy out for a Second Wind...no go. :(

For people, like me, who think there are hidden bonuses to a gun that you're just not seeing....you're not alone. And there's a fix!

Apparently, the large font used in the UI makes it impossible to see all of the stats applied to weapons within the game. 4 lines of stats are visible, but the actual number of stats can exceed the number of lines. As such, here is a way to shrink the text:

1. Go to where Borderlands is installed and navigate to the following directory:
Borderlands\WillowGame\Localization\INT\

2. Find the gd_globals.INT file and *BACK IT UP*.

3. Open the gd_globals.INT file with Notepad and find the following line:
Quote:
AttributePresentationTranslation="$NUMBER$ $CONSTRAINT$ $DESCRIPTION$"
4. Replace it with:
Quote:
AttributePresentationTranslation=$NUMBER$ $CONSTRAINT$ $DESCRIPTION$
(You can modify the font size to your liking, however, size 14 does well to show up to 5 lines, which is the current hardcoded limit.)

5. Save and exit.

Is the game riddled with memory leaks, because the gameplay becomes sluggish after 30 minutes

Some people have stated they think the game has memory leaks. I've played for most of the day a few times and haven't noticed anything slowing down that much... *shrug*

Same here. I have no game-play issues of any kind. Even after hours of continuous play. What is the OS that most seem to be having the memory problems with? I'm on WinXP Pro myself & as I said above, I have no game play/slow-down problems at all, nor does my daughters PC for that matter come to think of it.

Windows 7 x64 here. I think it's a bag of mixed candy for who gets the problem.

Sirens kick ass. It takes a while for them to take off but with the right weapons, skills and class mods you can make them sooo powerful. I have kind of a hybrid build (lvl 27) atm but it works well in both solo and co-op. Elemental damage ftw.

My current load-out (I am equally proficient in SMGs and handguns; didn't really bother with other weapons):

The only problem the game has running on my xbox is when I'm in berserk and I lunge forwards at enemies, the fps drops, I'm right up in the enemies face, and I have my fists, frozen right before they strike the enemy, bursting with electricity for about five seconds before the game continues. I would try to get it fixed, but it's just too damn hilarious.

Please, for the love of god, do the fix I posted before about showing more lines on weapon descriptions.

Dayum thats some sweet loot. Havent gotten anything above purple yet, how often does one see a yellow/orange gun? (I know they are rare, but in terms of gameplay hours)

Heel yeah. I believe I am at level 27 or 28, but here is my getup

Daze melee is pretty shit by itself, but combined with corrosive melee, I love it.

I have no defensive attributes though, so I get my butt kicked at times. I actually don't care very much for getting one of her three main powers.

Just did it. Thanks. Looks a lot better too.

As soon as you have reached New Haven, you are in loot heaven. There are four chests hidden on the rooftops that have awesome lvl 15-25 loot. Go through all the chests -> save -> exit to menu -> load game -> repeat. Made this map for you.

Why thank you Shaker :)

I havent gotten to New Haven yet, though I only have to find that Mad Mel guy until I gain access. Maybe I'll move that to the top of my priorities (I try to complete all the quests in one area before moving on).

Mad Mel was crazy hard for me to beat. He raped me several times, but the respawn point is right by the battle.

I refuse do do the New Haven chest run....just seems so....gay...

*EDIT* I wanna post my set up.

My Primary Gun....this thing is so sexy. Takes down shit so well, just aim at the head and watch em die.

My Secondary Gun...only thing it's good for is running close up to something and shooting, what, 4 bullets at a time into the head. Really only a backup gun.

Nade Mod for some good ol' health.

The most appropriate Class Mod for my 'Zerker.

I think something is wrong with the way XP is rewarded in co-op. I usually get only 1xp for most enemies and like 24 for a badass one. In single player I easily get at least 10 times that much. I don't get it.

Finally got my copy. Made a soldier and leveled to about 11. Still having mixed feelings about this game, but mostly positive. If you're playing on xbox add Nahkasorsa.

Just add halflife2net as a friend and check out the friends list.

I found a rocket launcher that shoots five rockets at a time and a shotgun that shoots rockets yesterday. The shotgun is great, because the ammo counts as shotgun ammo.

Just got my hands on Borderlands and it's awesome.

I'm currently lv. 17 and I just beat Sledge. Did anyone like Sledge's shotgun? It's insanely powerful up close with 57 x9 damage and a %10000 blast radius (I'm not kidding), but it has an accuracy rating of 0.0 LOL

Also just got my hands on this game. Got a couple of hours playtime in last night. Level 7 so far and really enjoying the game. This game feels so refreshing to me, just good fun, doesn't take itself too seriously, but still has enough depth to keep you interested (so far). Love the graphical style, especially the day/night (dusk really) cycle. So far so good !

:)

I think its a pointless weapon and I sold it. I much prefer aiming at long range with my revolver :p

That's just because you prefer to snipe though. :p

It's double-barreled shot and a +150% bonus to melee damage is pretty good for getting out of trouble. It's sorta a devastating 3-hit combo. I killed many badass skags doing around 350+ damage each blow and around 450+ if it is critical, so the 2-shots + a melee attack (shotgun combo) could do somewhere between 1000/2000 damage on stronger enemies. Not bad for only a lv. 17 soldier I guess. Probably would've been more useful as Brick though.

I hate the Hunters with their ability to bypass shields completely, makes it really unfair when you duel'em :(

Level 29 now. Still haven't run into any Crimson Lance soldiers. Do you only fight them during the endgame or what?

How much of a grindfest is this game? Cause I'm considering buying it, but if it's anything like "kill a shitload of these little ****ers, level up, kill more of these little ****ers, level up, kill these slightly bigger ****ers, level up, bring 25 leather belts you take off every slightly bigger ****er, level up" the I'm not sure I'd be interested.

There is some more variety in it than in a typical MMO, right (I realise it's not really a typical MMO, but I assume some mechanisms are there)? Do the weapons actually have a different feel to them and require different tactics, or are they just slighty different in mechanics and perform different animations? Cause there is a lot of them from what I gather.

Also, a boxed version can be activated on Steam, right? Cause I'm thinking of asking my friend to buy the game for me and send me the activation code, since where I'm at right now it's twice the price it is in Poland. I assume that would be possible?

It is basically MMO questing. Kill x this, gather y that, wtfpwn z boss. But it works for this game imo. You are never very long in one area, so the quests basically govern your trip through Pandora.

The weapons work quite different. Pistols and shotguns for close range, SMG's and RPG's for midrange and snipers for long range. Since you build up proficiency for weapon types it pays off to stick to a certain set-up. My Siren for example is very good with SMG's and pistols, but I am now also training her in snipers since I found a great sniper rifle with elemental effects.

Let's say you have 5 SMGs for example. One may have a great scope, another might not have one at all, another might have a 1x scope. One might fire really fast but is impossible to use accurately, one might be good at long range with slower rate of fire while another might only work up close and fire three rounds at once. One might fire rounds that light an enemy on fire, another might use electricity to chew through shields one might corrode armor. One might not need ammo at all.

Long story short, guns do feel unique, look relatively unique and perform uniquely. Accuracy, rate of fire, scope, projectile type, etc. Of course there is some overlap due to the tremendous number of them.

Only the side quests are your typical kill x number of y types quests. The main quests usually have you go into an area, fight your way through, get to the end of the area and then fight a real tough dude.

ugh... Performance is pretty shitty on the xbox 360 version. Shooting incenary rounds causes the fps to drop to like ~15. Zooming with certain weapons seems to drop fps by a great deal. Actually I feel like every time I'm in combat the fps is shit.

So I kinda beat the game last night. I was lvl 26 and the group leader was level 50 and he rushed us through the ending. I got to lvl 36 by the time we finished but I wasn't elligible for the quest. so technically I finished the game in just over 20 hrs but it was a blast playing the ending. in fact the minute i get home from work tonight I'm gunna look over all my loot because we played till 5am and i was dead tired by the end of it. overall 8.5/10 game for me

wat

I've been playing it with zero fps drops on 360 with the exception of a god awful chain reaction of explosions that almost locked my game up.

did you install it to the hard drive?? maybe thats why yours wins

I'm pretty sure there are guns that have that ability as well.

I especially like fighting the Crimson Lance. Seems like there's more tactics involved.
Also, I was watching some Crimson Lance soldiers just taunting and yelling at me, not shooting me, and another group managed to flank me. It might of been a sheer accident though.

Is the bucket wheel excavator still in the game? (This is a yes/no question. I don't want any details.)

I saw one on an island, but it was just another piece of a giant trash heap.
