I'll rent it, finish SP and try out MP and if MP turns out to be good (CoD2 had solid/good MP) I may buy it when the price is down a bit.

I've never played a WW2 game before, I'm so excited.

Looks good, but I dunno. Definitely worth a rental for you guys with 360s. Does it really do anything differently from the prevous ones?

Doubt it. The previous COD titles are good for a play-through and that's about it to me (never played COD2's MP).

I like well-made WW2 games (hell, I love most things WW2) so I'll rent this sometime next week.

My fingers are nice and crossed for MoH:A. Looks far superior to this imho--at least in terms of what its trying to do to set it apart from the pack.

Yeah, if they pull off what they're talking about for Airborne, it'll definitely be the best WW2 game out there. The whole "affordance" system has to be done well and the maps have to truly be open.

Cool, I always did like the COD games. Flaws aside, I thought they were downright good fun and I'm a big fan of WWII stuff, so I'll deffinatly take a look at this one sometime. Probably a rent to be honest, but thats only because I have other games that are higher priority.

EDIT: Ah! 24 mode X-Box Live with vehicles and up to seven classes of solders? YES! I do love BF2:MC for my X-Box, so this grabs my attention straight away. I may actually buy this game now, as it's just moved it's way up my list of games.

EDIT2: After watching a trailer, I am certainly going to be buying this game now. MP just looks awesome, what with being able to play as the Germans (Pz Kpfw II, I think I saw. Might of been a Tiger, but that'd be alittle one sided against a Sherman :|) classes like support, sniper, medic and other BF2 style stuff and the ability to get unlocks when you rank up like unlocking a radio pack for calling in artillery. I can't wait now.

I NEED A 360.

Nah, I don't want to appear too grateful for something I shouldn't have to consider a luxury. :)

hang on...

Pz Kpfw II (Panzer 2):

Panzer 2

Tiger (Panzer 6):

Tiger

How did you get them confused?

Anyway, I say its a tiger. Mind you, I suspect that it may fall victim to "balance"...

And anyway, why would it be one sided against a sherman? A sherman firefly (due to its superior 17 pounder gun) could destroy a Tiger, from the frount at a range of over 1,100 yards. Or over 2,200 with a late war APDS round!

Panzer II, Panzer IV, whatever, I only took a quick glance at my model collection. I only saw the back of the tank, amidst a big ball of flame and smoke. So, not alot really. I just wouldn't expect to see a Tiger in there as, on the scale of a Sherman, it just seems like a huge difference. I don't know.

A Sherman Firefly, yeah, not a Sherman. I don't know alot about the machinery used by the Allies in WWII (yawn), but was there not a single Sherman that took out a Tiger? Or something similar to that. I remember hearing it somewhere. But yeah, I'm not talking about a Firefly anyway. I doubt it'd be in the game just because... well, I dunno, I just wouldn't expect to see it.

What is this Sherman Firefly that can take out a Tiger and why isn't it in Company of Heroes? :frown:

That's what I was thinking, but I'm in two minds about the multiplayer. I loved CoD 1 and 2 for it, but using a controller instead of keyboard/mouse won't have the same feel. Being able to spin around 180 degrees and pop someone in the head with a rifle in a heated moment of split second accuracy (or bullshittery) was a big part of what made it tense and enjoyable.

That said, the vehicles (assuming they're done better than United Offensive, bleh) and the class system are tempting. Sounds like it's leaning a little more towards original Battlefield without being as full-scale, so the more intimate firefights don't suffer for it (hopefully).

It's not in COH? :| I would of thought it would be quite essential for fighting the German armoured forces. Just image a normal Sherman with an extended barrel, basically. It appeared in Brothers In Arms: Earned in Blood.

What's new in this one? Scripted events in MP?

ummm is it just me or is it not being released on PC right away?
WTF is up with that?!

B_MAN this is the crappy CoD 3 similar to CoD 2: Big Red One(?). The good CoD 3 that is coming out is scheduled for the PC.

The next real CoD will be...and its being developed by the original Infinity Ward boys, so no worries (I hope!).

Also, 1up gives it a 6.5. Not good.

Sorry to burst your bubble... I've talked to people at IW and they say that they will become pure console only developers now. Right now CoD4 is currently on the board for consoles only. They say it's just too expensive to develop for PC's with all of the different hardware configurations and such.

They will probably stay this way until Vista/DX10 becomes mainstream and costs for developing on PC's plummet.

I might get this one for the Wii. I'm definately getting a Wii, and am waiting to find what the best FPS game is for the system. I'm betting on it being CoD3

Because its British, not American. The Americans turned down the 17 pounder and used the inferior 76mm M1 on thier up gunned shermans. Hense the "allies" (or as they really are, Americans) not having the best tank killing sherman of the war.

You know what I hated most about CoD2, which also appears to be in CoD3?
The Germans voices. Yelling, constantly yelling the same shit over and over in the most horrible, high pitched voice you can imagine! That same voice belonging to every single German in the game!
Also, crappy cartoony animations, which I see have also been recycled for this game.

Everything else is okay, but the above just ruins everything, so I won't be buying CoD3.

I think its going to be a 'rent first, buy after you have bought GoW later'....or buy and trade in for GoW haha.

Guess we will find out tomorrow. Im buying it out of principle, ive yet to not buy a CoD series, have them all apart from Big Red, come on its CoD. Ergo, its going to be shweeet.

I'm bored with CoD by now. The first one was good and the expansion pack was great, but the second one was pretty tame in comparison, just prettier graphics. What I really want is a CoD-like game from the german's POV. That might get me excited about WW2-games again.

CoD was great, it was intense and it had personality (Cpt. Foyle anyone?). United Offensive was just as great (especially the set piece battles). But CoD 2 kind of sucked the life out of it, made it feel mechanical, replaced it with prettier graphics, put more enemies on the screen and turned it into a really repetative game in my opinion.

Since CoD 3 looks like a rehash of CoD 2 and it's set in Normandy (What an underused setting >_>) I probably won't get it, but I definitely will rent it in on the Wii as the controller might spice it up a little.

Completely my feelings. Most WW2-settings are overused by now. Wich is why we need a WW2 game from a german's POV.

And CoD2 felt boring and empty, no feel to it like the first one had.

I pre-orderd it with my Wii. :D Can't wait to put some hand movements on those naughty Nazis for a change.

Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood has a really cool campaign mode where you can play as German soldiers. Thats probably what I play most out of that game.

No, we get the M26 Pershing, which is still piss in comparison to most of the Axis armor...

Ah :)

*patiently awaits an expansion with British forces*

It's not.

What we have here is a terrible violation of naming conventions. GMI/Treyarch (UO, Big Red One) is using the name CoD3 for what is CoD2:Console game 2 (Another big red one).

The next CoD game by IW (Devs for CoD1 and CoD2), will be CoD4, and supposedly it isn't WW2.

@Ice_Eagle, I've heard otherwise... They said they would develop both, and from a pretty reliable source

If that is true, and they make it for PC, it is very very good news.

I loved cod, coduo, and cod2, but I am ready for some non-ww2 cod now.

.bog.

Yeaaah but I want a full-length game from a german POV. That'd be sweeet.:P
