Yahoo Games has just broke the news that a Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare PC demo will be released on Thursday, October 11th at 9AM PST/12PM EST.

Neat, I still dont know if i should get it for 360/ps3/pc. Any reason for a console? Maybe coop?
 
Wow, they've been pimping up the mp to no end and the demo they're giving us is SP only?

Given how slow my net is at Uni (90kb/s maximum download speed), I might either miss this completely, or download it over a weekend when I don't need much internet.

Cool. Will be interesting if only to see how it runs and controls.

The MP beta was fun, but I really didn't think it was suited for console controls.
 
Very excited regardless, will get to see how this runs on my increasingly aging machine.
 
Like the Crysis beta, I'll only d/l it to stress test my new system.
 
This is good, will let me know if I want to buy the game or not. Shame it's sp, would've preferred an MP demo instead.
 
Yay, demo! Too bad they weren't smart enough to make it MP. Guess it's better than nothing. But if they really were listening to the fans, like the supposedly are, it'd be MP.
 
Pff, it looked really sucky on the Xbox360 -- In all fairness, all shooters do on consoles --, so I'm not really expecting a good game.
 
Hope my machine will run it. Gotta have this on PC, joypads and FPS are likle oil and water PLUS the PC version has bigger multiplayer maps!
 
Good luck on not freaking out when going through the tutorial/hints and spotting "Press ENTER or (picture of the A button on an Xbox controller)"
 
Yeah, I would really have liked a console demo as my PC may have a rough time with this as it has with most of the recent releases. :(
 
MP will be sweet, can`t wait.
All CoD`s except for the first one and UO have been rubbish. This better be the true sequel.
 
Are you kidding? This one is what happens when game developers turn desperate and turn a revered series into... shit - An Xbox shooter. We will get it on PC, and it will suck because it'll be a console-port.

Troll on the dev forums, it's rather funny watching the fanboy defense kick in. COD is a horrid game I've never liked it apart from the SP. They go on about how the PC comes first and then release a Xbox beta before the PC. Good work there boys, way to toy with your fan base.
 
Downloading from Yahoo at the minute. Slow as feck for me though, I'll probably just wait till some decent mirrors come about.
 
Doesn't look like it so far. I take it this is some exclusive little deal with Yahoo games or something, it's not up anywhere else. Which is annoying seeing as my download from yahoo keeps failing after a few minutes. Hopefully Gamershell will have it soon.

jeez yahoo sucks ..start downloading, 2 minutes later it says it's complete ..look at zip file it's 18mb ..CoD4 is only 18mbs? will download when it's uploaded to a proper server

I wonder if IW has any clue how f*cked up their image has become with COD4, at least for the PC community.

The decision to offer exclusivity to Yahoo is just another in a long line of mistakes that have been made regarding COD4.

And, honestly, it doesn't matter if everything is Activision's fault, since IW was the developer. People instantly look to them for blame. If the game isn't damn near perfect upon release or very soon after, I expect quite a backlash.
 
Yep IW have pissed up big time. This demo shoud be available on all sites not just Yahoo. Ive tried downloading using DAP and it keeps disconnecting. Was really looking forward to this but now I feel a Crysis type boycott coming on
 
yahoo yanked off their servers, dont bother trying

We just got word from our reader DrJester that Yahoo's servers have crumbled under the pressure of trying to host a premiere of the Call of Duty 4 single-player demo. I've tried pulling the file to host it locally, but their server's reporting a 404 - no such file found:

"The demo was able to be downloaded about an hour or so ago, but, apparently, Yahoo decided they didn't like their servers getting hammered and pulled the link altogether. Those who were downloading were not able to get more than 30MB before the transfer failed."

Just finished playing the demo, and it's not bad, not bad a tall. A little too short even for a demo, but action packed.

Gameplay wise the only thing that annoys me is that they've kept that stupid "duck for a few seconds and your health regenerates" thing, other than that it's decent.

So long story short, those that liked the previous COD games will like this one, those that didn't like the series, and expected a radical change will be disappointed.

As for the graphics, I have to say that when I saw the trailers I thought it didn't look that good, but in game it looks pretty good, not what you would call "next gen" but still good.

If anyone still needs to DL, I'm getting a wicked filefront d/l speed atm. (550+)

Mainly looking forward to CoD4 to play it in Battle for Europe - CoD.
