Call of Duty Black Ops

Yo guys.

I dunno if you've already done this or not. The reason why we're getting the stuttering is because the game uses your CPU more than your GPU due to consoles lolol (also why CPU usage is so ****ing high). If you bump up your graphics it'll shift more load to your GPU and free up your CPU, which should help it go a little smoother. More band-aid fixes until they get it straight.

DO THAT SHIT!

The update definitely made things a lot better but it's still pretty bad, every time I go to shoot someone i freeze for a second.

its the first week of game release, give it some time. Xmas day and week will be busy too but i'm willing to bet things will be fixed completely by then

First DAY of game release it should run flawless for 99.9% of buyers, not 3%.

I have no problem with this game online for xbox. the game runs smooth and doesn't lag at all

Played a few hours of it's singleplayer at a friend's house. So many of those "WOAH SHELLSHOCK COOL" CoD moments, I do appreciate them if used tastefully, but I swear they sometimes come out of nowhere and lead you nowhere. Not to mention the amount of boots to the face you receive in this game.

It's okay I guess, but personally I wouldn't spend the $120 to buy it etc.

Played a few matches in multiplayer yesterday, I am quite enjoying it though I'd say it has about the same amount of bullshit kills as MW2 and CoD4 did.

Worth noting is that I'm playing it on the 360.

it's much more subdued than MW2 was. the only bullshit kills that i get from this now are pretty much a given for the series and basically unavoidable.

Well, I guess I just get annoyed when everyone has fine connections, and I stab a guy in the face and actually physically see the knife be pushed into his face, and yet somehow as my knife is penetrating his eyesocket, he manages to headshot me.

You're not alone :(

I hate it. Call of Duty, burn in hell.

...Until you give me Modern Warfare 3.

Can't wait until my brother buys this :p

If I had a PS3 or 360 I might have rented it, but the SP is not really worth the full price and I'm not interested in the MP.

None of those steam fixes worked for me. They just made my game look worse. @_@

I saved my money and wathed the game on Youtube. That Vietnam mission with C.C.R. music was cool, rest of the game was OK but nothing worth my €60.

LOL, that's one way of enjoying the game.

Looks like they fixed the stuttering. For some players, anyway. The netcode still needs fixin though. It appears that the stats server is to blame for that.

Is this game worth it only for the multiplayer, if my computer specs are a 2.8GHz Athlon II X2, 2GB RAM and a Radeon x1900XT 512MB?

Okay, I calmed down enough to play a bit more of it.
Zombies are cool, but it feels really tacky & as someone said a few weeks/days ago it's a total "We're so cool!" ploy by Gayarch (yeah, it's the best I could think of).
Singleplayer looks like WaW again but jammed full of the shellshock 'Woah slo-mo!' moments. I played a few missions, did not like at all.
Multiplayer ... Holy shit, just wow. So unbelievably UGLY. The maps look awful, the weapons suck & everything is just wrong. No customized weapon classes? No thank you.

Looks like I'm in hibernation for another year until Modern Warfare 3 gets released. </3 Treyarch.

So been playing a total of 5 hours in multi now, as well as beaten the SP campaign on Regular.

It is quite fun in MP, but as I said before, bullshit kills are still a regular occurrence.

However, the biggest minus for me is the maps, they aren't nearly as good as CoD4 maps were in my opinion.

JUL3, what do you mean no customized weapon classes?>_>

I am able to customize my classes as I see fit, modify weapons etc.

Yup, but only after you reach level 4. Maybe Jule didn't play that far.

Also, what's wrong with the maps? They seem to be the same as any other CoD game. This still isn't my kind of multiplayer to be honest. I like my 'realistic' shooters with bigger maps and vehicles.

>people confusing arcade shooters for realistic shooters

Go play arma.

Well, he did use quotation marks, perhaps because most gamers view CoD as a "realistic" shooter as ridiculous as it is.

Anyway, I'm having a hard time currently motivating myself to boot up the game again, maybe I should go and try to finish Blade Runner, hmm..

The MP is FANTASTIC. If I had judged this game just based on the single-player, I would have been massively disappointed. But me and my friends played for maybe 10 hours last night and it was god damned amazing.

Disregard my previous post, I love this game.

You're so fickle. :D

More people would probably enjoy themselves if they gave the game a chance like you did. Yes, Activision is awful, but they make a damn fun game sometimes.

Seems like I'm going to need a few more patches to get it running smoothly.

I am so pissed of with Treyarch. How can they even get away with releasing this game? If it was a common consumer item we'd be eligible for a refund. It's definitely not fit for sale at any rate. Well I've learned my lesson about pre-ordering now.

I really have to agree. The maps aren't all bad, and there's some nice design in there, but they are so ****ing cramped. Jesus christ, I swear 80% of encounters will take place in close quarters, because there are almost no large "lanes" to speak of which open up the map to long-range conflicts. Forget quickscoping, snipers are downright useless with these maps.

This might be okay on console, but it is not okay on PC for one very simple reason: 18 player servers. I don't know what the **** Treyarch were smoking when they made this decision, but all ranked servers (ie - what everyone is playing 99% of the time) are fixed at 18 players, with no way for the (paying) server admins to raise or lower it. For clarity, this is the same player count you get on console if you go through the "ground war" playlist, which is essentially just like the "big team" games from Halo and is the only way you can have so many players in a game. It's that way for a ****ing reason. Every other game mode has (as far as I'm aware) 12 players max, making it 6 per team. Seem small? Not if you've played on these maps, it doesn't. The game is balanced for 12, and it shows. One of the big reasons I was looking forward to Black Ops over MW2 was because the matches wouldn't be quite so frantic without all the ridiculous weapons and killstreaks. This completely ruins that.

That's not even going into the completely broken spawn system, which will literally spawn people directly behind you after you just killed them, and then spawn you behind them after they kill you. You can probably imagine how this plays out.

F*ck.

Doesn't sound like a £40 game.

Assuming the game is patched, would this game run acceptably on an athlon II 2.8GHz dualcore?

It can be got for under £30 from Direct2Drive UK using their promo code which gives 25% off.

I'd buy this game, but unlike most of the people boycotting Sucktivision, I'm still winning!

I'm really liking this game, zombies is fun as hell.

Got the Hardened Edition, so I'm DLing the extra maps now.

The maps do indeed feel cramped, and I have spawned into enemy fire countless times. You can spawn, take a couple of steps and bam, game over.

The single player is running slightly better for me since the patch but I think I'm going to just leave the whole game alone until all the problems have been ironed out.

So far I've only really been able to play on Nuketown (****ing people voted for it 7 times in a row). Is it the smallest map, or are they all that size?
