Neither Napolean or the Romans had the technology to keep such a world in check. Rebellions would have been innevitable which would mean new nations would be created and we would be back to what we are today. I don't mean to be a stickler, but he wasn't that great a president in the terms of unjustified fighting. Remember Bosnia? I (and many like me) would argue that Clinton's idiocy in Bosnia led to an even greater strengthening of Islamic Fundamentalism in Europe/the World than Bush's idiocy in Iraq.

Please read this paper and tell me again how great Mr. Clinton was. I am not trying to bash, merely to provide a little more information to the people that blindly state that Clinton was so great and Bush is so bad.

And I don't think China has any serious intention of using nukes against the US. This one fellow's comments have been blown a little out of proportion. He does clearly state that he thinks China would respond with nuclear weapons if attacked. It's his opinion and really shouldn't be taken too much further than that. Remember, they are one of our allies in talks with N. Korea trying to prevent them from using their nukes. Lots of posturing going on over there...let's hope it stays that way.

thye still don't have intercontinental nukes, they can hit japan and taiwan, but not us mainland, I saw that on the internet, but don't hold me to it, cause why the chinese can send people in to space but can't nuke the US, anyway don't you have a defense shield.

You see those powerful shuttles are quite capable of reaching America you know.

I don't think we have a real "missile shield" yet, most of them are in the prototype/testing/etc. phase.

What we need are orbital Ion Cannons, able to shoot down any ICBM, large missile/rocket, satelite, or to unfocus it's beam somewhat and take out ground targets.

Air convects heat away (exchange of heat via thermal motion of air molecules).

Heat that radiates away is in the form of photons, so it may do so in space.

Granted that convection will almost certainly occur at a faster rate.

Surrender? Why would that even be an option. If they initiated a nuclear battle over a conventional war... in this modern day and age, they don't deserve surrender.

Well... i'm sure something like that would be desperately needed. Nuclear attacks on the west coast would cripple the US economy. Even moreso if west coast attacks were possible.

Even moreso, the world would suffer. The amount of fallout would be rather extreme in any of those situations.

We could use some Neutron Bombs to minimalize fallout, and the landmass isn't rendered uninhabitable for long periods of time like with other nuclear weapons. A neutron bomb is the sane man's tactical nuclear weapon.

It's not designed to be dropped into cities, it's designed to be dropped on military targets. Advancing forces, bases, etc etc.

Good examples of places to use it would've been in Vietnam in areas of conflict with low population, like he had encouraged, the raging battles in 2002 in the Tora Bora mountains in Afghanistan.
