we'll remember that when some bully decides to invade your country.jonbob said:Christ, if it's not oil it's bloody sand.
uh.. we are the security council, sorry.jonbob said:You mean like the Vikings, Romans or the French?
Don't get me wrong, someone should look after Taiwan's interests when she's incapable of doing it herself but it shouldn't be the US. Let the UN handle it; the security council was founded for a good reason.

Neither Napolean or the Romans had the technology to keep such a world in check. Rebellions would have been innevitable which would mean new nations would be created and we would be back to what we are today. Maybe instead of declaring independance from the British Empire the US would have declared independance from the Roman empire.halflifeguy said:if napoleon or the Romans had taken over the world like they should have then we wouldnt be in this mess..........

VictimOfScience said:I don't mean to be a stickler, but he wasn't that great a president in the terms of unjustified fighting. Remember Bosnia? I (and many like me) would argue that Clinton's idiocy in Bosnia led to an even greater strengthening of Islamic Fundamentalism in Europe/the World than Bush's idiocy in Iraq.
Please read this paper and tell me again how great Mr. Clinton was. I am not trying to bash, merely to provide a little more information to the people that blindly state that Clinton was so great and Bush is so bad.
And I don't think China has any serious intention of using nukes against the US. This one fellow's comments have been blown a little out of proportion. He does clearly state that he thinks China would respond with nuclear weapons if attacked. It's his opinion and really shouldn't be taken too much further than that. Remember, they are one of our allies in talks with N. Korea trying to prevent them from using their nukes. Lots of posturing going on over there...let's hope it stays that way.
Grey Fox said:thye still don't have intercontinental nukes, they can hit japan and taiwan, but not us mainland, I saw that on the internet, but don't hold me to it, cause why the chinese can send people in to space but can't nuke the US, anyway don't you have a defense shield.
Sir Phoenixx said:I don't think we have a real "missile shield" yet, most of them are in the prototype/testing/etc. phase.
What we need are orbital Ion Cannons, able to shoot down any ICBM, large missile/rocket, satelite, or to unfocus it's beam somewhat and take out ground targets.
Kyo said:1. You'd need a nuclear power plant in space.
2. How are you going to cool it with no air to disipate heat into?
Kyo said:Heat does indeed radiate heat away. Just the same you don't run your CPU without a heatsink and fan now do you?
<One person applauds at the back of a silent auditorium>Icarusintel said:if they shot a single nuke over here i would personally go over and kill every last one of them, of course that goes for any country threatening the US with such things, gotta show em we don't f*ck around
if the gov't doesn;t mean to do these things the general should be fired, but I fear China is fully prepared to launch a nuclear attack against america... which worries me more than al qaeda, really
RakuraiTenjin said:They don't have the ICBM's to mount a full scale nuclear attack that would be effective. Say, and at worst, they had a couple that could reach the west coast, from a war standpoint they just did little damage and are now screwed, because as the General said, they'd lose every city east of Xian and probably those east of it too if it came to that. (if they hadn't already surrendered by the time we did a few)
We have a lot to gain if we can get unconditional surrender for China, aside form revenge, which we could get with a few hits quickly, full access to their markets at no Chinese conditions is heavenly for us.Raziaar said:Surrender? Why would that even be an option. If they initiated a nuclear battle over a conventional war... in this modern day and age, they don't deserve surrender.

We could use some Neutron Bombs to minimalize fallout, and the landmass isn't rendered uninhabitable for long periods of time like with other nuclear weapons. A neutron bomb is the sane man's tactical nuclear weapon.Raziaar said:Well... i'm sure something like that would be desperately needed. Nuclear attacks on the west coast would cripple the US economy. Even moreso if west coast attacks were possible.
Even moreso, the world would suffer. The amount of fallout would be rather extreme in any of those situations.
RakuraiTenjin said:Hehe, but seriously. We should stop dismantling our weapons and work on better technologies like the Neutron bomb (drawback is it's expense)
This is a good read, check it out guys!

Who cares about healthcare or medical research!? Who cares about crippling the education system, leaving future generations with barely enough intelligence to operate velcro!? Who cares about pollution and the environment!? Who f*ckin' cares! We got bombs, bitch! Woooooo-f*cking-hooooo!!!RakuraiTenjin said:Hehe, but seriously. I thought human rights advocates these days wanted the opposite of that?
Destroying the war machine while leaving the people intact.
There's a thing called budgets, which allocates x amount of money to x department.el Chi said:Who cares about healthcare or medical research!?
