Absinthe said:So discussion and protest is pointless.
Yes it is, seeing as how Munro asked all the moderators about it....

Well seeing as the mods arent the reason why people like this site, perhaps he shoulda asked us instead...DiSTuRbEd said:Yes it is, seeing as how Munro asked all the moderators about it....
DiSTuRbEd said:Now tell me why there is barely any new people EVER posting in here? Its the same ole 3-4 people and nobody else, usually.

Absinthe said:Oh yes. Munro. The pinnacle of infallibility, loved by all and hated by none.
CptStern said:and no, there are many new people participate in the politics forum ..SAJ (althought not new, has posted more frequently), Bob_Marley, gick, baxter, JNightshade etc

Pi Mu Rho said:Munro did indeed poll the moderators.

Are endless debates that never move past the "throwing statements around" phase, into understanding and *gasp* perhaps an adjustment of one's opinion? Was this cesspit your heaven?

I could end with a snappy metaphorical exaggeration. 'cesspit'? 'heaven'? Let's not get carried away.
I'd rather die. :XAngry Lawyer said:I agree with TGB. Sorry, Jondy.
I think the forum closing is Munro's conspiracy to get you all out of the house and get some fresh air.

Completely agree.shadow6899 said:wait im confused why the hell would we close the political forum? if you dont like it, dont come in.
EDIT- o well i c now, i think this is quite ridiculous... the politics forum is really the only reason i come here anymore. B/c all the other forums are so inactive i just chill here. If people can't handle being in the politics forum w/o starting a fight they shouldn't be here period. Why punish everyone who does use the forums correctly? This decision makes 0 sense and might cause many people, well me at least, to leave this site :/
Laivasse said:Heh, I just remembered that orange link on the forum index page that appeared a little while back; "How can we improve the site? We want your feedback!"
And then just the mods decide to do this with no feedback from anyone on the forums, the justification being 'WE R TEH LAWR!' And the orange thing vanishes. Yeah, well.

jondy said:It's gravy. To be fair, I'm not proposing the politics forum to be made of goodness and light, I'd just rather it was there than not.
I thought Munro's conspiracy was to keep us all inside until the air ran out?

I really don't post on protest warrior much because it's so big that usually what I want to say is said, and it's an agree fest because I'm fairly right wing. Also, most left wingers that end up there are extremists and actual communists/crazy people. At the equivelant left wing site, democratic underground, it is against the rules for me to register because I am conservative (states in the rules not to, they ban them regardless of trolling or reasoned debate)CrazyHarij said:
As obvious as it might sound, that really is scary in a "big brother" type way. Bad debate = double plus bad thoughts.I'm going to post this here, the other main thread on the Closure of this forum:
Serious discussion isn't outlawed, far from it, such discussions exist, it's the seeming news-reporting that goes on.
Bad theads:
US Conservatives call Canada 'Retarded'
Zomg US Lies Again
Bush wanted to bomb Al-Jezeera
(I don't mean to single out threadposters, don't take it that way )
Examples of good theads:
Vote For 2006
Public Smoking Ban in the UK (poll)
Yeah, I got that , but only by looking at the explanation behind it in the other thread.r don't think of the topic of those threads, I was talking about the type of threads that they are - news reporting. Halflife2.net does not have a political inclination at all. We favour no sides.
