Cloverfield

Yeah, I didn't think Marla was HOT...but she was attractive none the less.

I was reading that when there on the bridge Hud looks over at another guy holding a camera and they both look at eachother. So the second movie could be that guy running around and filming different things that happened. Also I really like the idea of a documentary.

I think a documentry is the best place to take the film. A collection of news reports including cameras phone clips, more hand-held footage and actual television camera crew broadcasts, all shown across each countries respective news channels with things like interviews with survivors/evacuees, soldiers, military officials and scientists slotted in throughout the course of the film.

But whatever they do, I don't think a film shot the same way would work. At all. It would feel far too tacky and forced to show another movie of a guy running around getting in to all sorts of trouble with the monster. But then after seeing the film shot that way, I don't think it would work shown in the 'normal' cinema way (many cameras, angles, etc, etc)

Who knows what they'll do next, but I'm glad Abramms said they're going to wait it out and start when the time is right and to keep it in safe hands.

I really enjoyed Cloverfield. A truly epic and unique movie, J.J. Abrams is a great man. Only thing I didn't liked was that jerk party, it was too long...
I don't care if it was realistic. C'mon, it's a monster movie!

Best things:

The very beginning of the movie (with test pattern, military watermarks, description).
Shaky cam.
Army, every sequence with army was gold, epic battles, evacuation, quarantine...
Parasites, scary as sh*t, terrific noise...it was worse than aliens.
And of course, Cloverfield Monster.

just came from the movies. my GF won two free tickets to see this movie.

meh...this film was so lacking in many aspects.

theres absolutely no story. i know nothing about the monster after seeing it. shaky 1st person cam is not that awesome, personally it gave me a really unrealistic taste. who the **** would film all that during panic and monster infestation. the end is unbelievably disappointing.

some scenes were nice and tense, the military action shots were pretty awesome i admit, but it barely showed anything. i liked the monster design.

all in all not to bad if you get free tickets, but i wouldn't spend too much money for it.

Director said that you're supposed to feel like one of the people experiencing the event. All of a sudden there's a huge ****ing monster attacking the city and no one knows what the hell is happening. There's not supposed to be some scientist who comes out of no where and explains the monster to us.

I actually found it was a very run of the mill monster movie. Plots dumb, nothing unique apart from the camera style, and the shakey is overdone, with the clever angles very limited.

You're not supposed to know any more about the monster then the people with the camera do. Its the point of shooting a film like that. Also as to who would film during all that shit, well..alot of people would. One of the more realistic scenes in the film was when the statue of liberty's head flew off and everyone started taking pictures of it with their phones. Its not that crazy to think that there wouldn't be atleast 1 person in all of new york city trying to document whats happening.

This movie was recommended to me by a friend who just raved about it. Because he thought it was "the best movie ever!" I didn't do any research into the movie before going to see it. All I had seen were the TV preview. They were not accurate. We left after the first 10 minutes of the movie, as I was about to throw up. This movie is not for anyone who gets the least bit motion sick!!! The woman who refunded our money was very sympathetic, though, and said numerous people have had the same problem. This movie could have been a lot of fun if the camera didn't move so much. In the future, I will be much more careful prior to going to the movies.

As for the 'big mess'
I initially thought it was an Aliens-like chestburster type thing, but now I kinda think the parasites release an enzyme or whatever which eventually results in a rapid buildup of gas in the stomach. It reminded me of how pigeons die if you feed them alka-seltzer because they can't burp, they bleed from the eyes too in that situation afaik

This film was THE SHIT.

This was basically my reaction. It's too bad that, now that it's almost out of theatres, I'll never be able to experience it in its full glory ever again.

It's seriously wonderful. It's good to the degree that I want to hijack a screen machine and tour the country as an evangelist for this movie.

I'm trying to read reviews on it, but it's difficult:

As for the notion of a metaphor what, America is destroying itself? A metaphor for 9/11? Okay, maybe that works, but not very well. This film seems so designed for an audience that’s plugged into the web, electronics and itself that there’s no humanity in sight.
No. You're wrong. You're so incredibly wrong you are actually the opposite of right.
