Command & Conquer 3 Demo, Next Week !

As much as the demo is fun. I hope they clean a few things up. Something is missing. It just doesnt feel like C&C. *sighs* I'm not getting the same feeling when I first played TD or TS. Can't really put my finger on it.

Yeah. What the hell were they thinking when they designed it like that.

It's still pretty classic. I'm glad they pulled away from that bulldozer shit back to good old school side bars. :D

Ooooh, I'm definantly getting this. Even if it's just for the B-grade movie kickassness.

And it runs fairly well on my system, too! The Ion Cannon... oooh, brilliance.

/EDIT But without the Frank... Frank... Frank something... Westwood music, it's lacking something. Something the RA2 intro had. Music is way to background, that's agreed... movies are pleasently B-grade though.

Agreed needs more kick arse music. Flattening brutal AI is fun enough atm, release already dammit.

Im sick of looking at the sage engine, supreme commander ftw

The engine is raw code I doubt you've seen it. Artistic works are something else. As for Sup Com it's bloated TA, I still play Spring on the odd occasion.

Does anyone know if the devs have said approximately how many minutes/hours (thinking the latter makes me giddy) of FMV there are? Hell, I'll buy it just for that. I mean it should be a pretty large amount, considering you can play both the NOD and GDI factions (don't think you can play the scrin).

The FMVs in Red Alert were so entertaining...

Well a music mod is inevetable (spell? its the word smith says to Neo when they all jump over him)

One thing comes to mind from your screenshot Kyo, the health bars. I liked the TS healthbars better, the ones with the 3D cubes.

It seems darker and grittier than RA2 and 1. I'm not sure if that's good or bad though... a lot of lasers. I wonder if they're making RA3... they better be, the bastards.

I miss the RA series.

/EDIT And Hell March, and most of Frank's music. Damn that shit is good.

Red Alert 3 is assured.

Red Alert 3 - because a war between the Soviets and Allies is needed every ten years.

They better rehire Frank Klepacki for RA3, though... Hell March 3, woot!

He's kind of busy working for Petroglyph.

Over an hours worth i think it is :D

And here I was waiting for the obligatory "OMG pink is ghey!"

There is a REALLY annoying bug where you fly the planes to attack something at the very top of the map, all your planes stop and get stuck in one big clump, you can't move them at all and the enemy just blows them all up.

There goes all your planes !

Post it in the bugs thread on cncn please Mutley :)

Has anyone experianced that on the Prolouge mission, if you attack with alot of infantry and when the sam sites gets deployed (only gets deployed if your infantry reaches the construction yard) then your infantry starts attacking itself???? I couldnt move them or make them stop. They just started shoting and killed themselves! wtf?

Ah, thanks for answering my question.

Oh, and I definitely want there to be a Red Alert 3. Or better yet I hope they make another Renegade-style game (but better AI hopefully).

I downloaded a .big explorer so i could take a look at the files to see if i can replace some music but the files in there are weird named and in weird formats. Impossible for me to do anything. Anyone whos good at this stuff????????????

The AI are a bitch, especially NOD. On Skirmish they do all sorts of dirty tactics.

WARNING SPOILERS, WELL NOT ACTUALLY EVERY C&C FAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS

One thing came to mind a minute ago. The philadefia (sp?) station is blown up, so doesnt the ion canon also get blown up along with it?? They are together in one right? So how can you use the ion cannon further into the game if its destroyed?

There's probably another station or they build another or something. I dunno. It seems pretty silly if they give it to you for the beginning and never again :/

The Ion Cannon is a separate platform.

Yeah, there're references to the Philadelphia having some sort of weapons battery but definitely not the cannon itself.

Didn't one of the devs (i.e., someone official) cite the charge delay for the cannon actually being a queing system of different GDI outposts requesting its use across the planet: and that the wait was more about getting it into position than anything else? Or something?

That is already known, but if you do find anything post it...well you know where Ravi

Does anyone have tactics for Skirmish? Please post, playing NOD on medium and they are rather tricky as their whole base is stealth, they keep moving their base around the map too.

Glenny may have something in the next few days..:O

I'm so gripped by C&C fever I may write some tactical guides on how to play with some of the unknown features of certain units and strategies.

With regard to the stealth problem, stop them getting through with the sonic wave turrets at the choke points on the map, they really hurt vehicles, including the cloaked ones. Also the ion trooper guys with lasers can get an upgrade from the armoury to detect stealth. Oh and build the 'rig' unit on GDI and deploy it, it's fantastic defence.

On that map Mutley, make sure you take at least one of the side tib fields, and hold them with vehicles to stop the spread to the sides. They'll probably populate the middle and garrison many buildings but the grenadiers are great at fixing that! Win through brute force essentially. Mammoths with laser upgrades & firestorm bomber jets to damage avatar mechs and obelisks prior to assaults, or you'll be in trouble.

Damn that Glenn is good!

Great to have him back on the cncnation team

I'm fairly sure in the prologue mission the AI cheats and insta-kills all your infantry dudes when you reach the construction yard.

Going for NOD tonight for a change, wave goodbye to my laser mammoth tanks :( See how a Brutal GDI tries to take me. If anyone has played NOD much, let me know if you've got special tricks up your sleeve.

For Nod you can try all the hit and run tactics you want or try brute force. Avatars and beam tanks go together nicely, back yourself up with Stealth tanks for AA purposes.

GDI AI loves to use Air units even on lower difficulty levels. The weirdest thing I've seen is an ion cannon building surrounded by AA turrets, not just randomly but nigh a perfect circle of them.
