Command & Conquer 3 Demo, Next Week !

I <3 the demo. It is superb, and I'm looking forward to the game itself.

Kane does seem a lil' bit campy though.

Argh, major problem. The unzip is automatically trying to unzip to C. I can't find a way to change the destination. C drive is full.

That's the thing that pisses me off. The installer is on E:\, so either ask me where to unpack the temp files or unpack them to the directory of the installer, not to ****ing C:\. Or perhaps check how much space is left on my SYSTEM drive (not unpack-all-your-shit-there-drive) and look for another drive with sufficient space, not suddenly come up with "yadayad, possible cause: disk full". Fortunately I managed to free up enough space (or rather it freed up itself somehow, upon next reboot it was cut by 50%; my pagefile is constant) and install the demo.

So how are you guys doing with the Skirmishes? I'm not a frequent RTS player and last C&C I played was, as I said, Red Alert, so I'm still kinda unfamiliar. Playing on medium and while I haven't played a whole skirmish, it was clear I was losing (CPU builds it's stuff and expands faster).

It seems a lot like Generic RTS 427 to me. Sure, it's fun, but honestly it doesn't seem like there's a lot of personality to it. It steals just about all of the new features introduced from other high-profile games, and it just seems rather ho-hum to me. The graphics and presentation and whatnot are top-quality - aside from the campy acting and script, which I assume was intentional - but that is to be expected from Electronic Arts anyway. At least it ran nicely on my aging computer at medium settings while looking comparable to Age of Empires III. Supreme Commander was nearly unplayable, in comparison.

That's not to say it's not fun, because it is, but there doesn't seem to be that much of a reason to buy it when I could get the exact same thing in just about every other game out there. Then again, Command & Conquer also has the Grandfather Bonus, which means that it's allowed to be generic just because the first game kind of defined what was generic in the first place. That still doesn't mean that it can't innovate as well.

Oh, and there are some major path-finding issues with units. I had some spend forever trying to get around a building that had some enemies garrisoned in an adjacent one. They got ripped to pieces trying to circle around to the other side. Same thing happened in a situation where my tanks should have just run over the infantry in front of them, but instead decided to sit there shelling them until they died. Of course, I lost a couple of tanks just trying to get them out. In this day and age you shouldn't have to micromanage every little move your troops make.

About what you were saying about the guys trying to get round the building while they were being fired upon... I believe they coulda been pinned down by enemy fire. I think that is definately in the game somewhere... hense the reason why they wouldnt get round the building quick enough... also Are tanks able to run over infantry? I know one of the NOD tanks has to get an upgrade so its able to do this, but it cant without the upgeade. This may have been reasons for the experience you had.

No such luck here... and I'm hesitant to delete shit from my C drive. It's full for a reason.

Solution use system drive for system purposes. My C: is a 20gb partition on a 200gb drive. Keep only programs and the OS there.\

As for your problem open it with WINRAR (who uses zip anymore?), extract, run setup.

No time? Had other things to do?

Thought you meant you got a bug or just got stuck :O

<3

Yeah Amish is right about being able to play Nod :D

And of course Kane is a bit campy, he always is :O

What do you think I'm doing? :D The main problem is now that the Internode link you gave seems to give up after about 50 minutes... which is 10 minutes off completion. It's really annoying... I guess I'll play tommorrow.

Sounds like more of an issue with your internet connection. Use a download manager.

Ion Cannon...omg explosion pron.

CoH's explosions still make me cream more though.

Well that is the advantage CoH has in having its own sexy engine, C&C3 is just using the upgraded Generals engine :O

That's what I'm doing, keeping the system there and the stuff that forces itself in there ><. I thought 7GB would be enough, turns out not D:

BTW: When's the full game shipping?

I played generals once (hated it) but i liked that the camera kind of shaked as soon as there was battle going on. I thought they would include that feature in this becuase its the same engine (upgraded).

Is there a way to get normal Tiberian Sun music into this? The music is OK but its to low and to backgroundish. I want it to be louder and to really get me into the mood.

Will be looking into something like this on cncnation, discussions starting regarding a possible sound mod. If anyone has experiance with this kinda thing let me know please =)

Also staff discussion regarding a C&C3 Clan are in progress, keep your eyes open guys!

:D

k, maybe i should register at your forums instead of sneaking around like a ninja over there.

Wow i just realized, where are the NOD Artillary??????????

does anyone know how to group the units as its annoying having to click n drag to select them every time i want to use em

ctrl+number after selecting them to make a group. Afterwards, just press <number> to select them again.

I wish Frank Klepaki(sp?) would've done the music for the new C&C. He does some amazing stuff. btw, he was the original composer for the series for those who don't know.

Yea i emailed him about it and he said he havent even been contacted regarding this.....

But some of the trailers for C&C3 has music from Klepaki, so isnt that false advertisment and copyrighted material? EA cant dont have the right to use the music without even asking him right?

Bullshit, if there is ingame music from the classics in the trailers, then it should be in the game too.

I think the music in the trailers was just some stuff EALA made themselves following Frank's style...don't quote me on that!

No i have heard real Tiberian Sun songs in some trailers. 100% sure

Game was kind of fun when I played it. I am not a huge fan of massing units to win, I prefer more strategy based games.

EA own the original C&C music, not Frank.

Then why wont they use it in the game? Its kind of retarded not to....
You don't know who is creating this game do you?

Uh yes i do. If they bought up the C&C francise from Westwood then why not use the music too?

Because EA evidently wanted to completly bastardise the game from Tiberian Sun.

The game lacks something for me, I can't pin point it but I miss Tiberium Sun badly, it's just not the same at all, just feels like a well done mod for Generals.

All am waiting to see about this game is the story.. am not really bothered about game play or anything, I just want to see how the story unfolds.... I can get over game play if needed.

Well read the Staff Section on cncn fool!
