Have you ever met a Communist, and what did you think of them?

I saw a couple people in the "People I Dont Like" thread list Communists. I'm wondering how many of you guys actually met a communist. There still seems to be a lot of hate generated towards communists, but I'm betting its mostly because of propaganda and not actual experience with communists. I see no reason why they should be hated any more than any other people with other ideologies, even if you disagree with them.

I've only known one guy who was a communist, and he was cool as hell. He fapped a lot though, and would actually answer the door in the middle of it (covering himself in a blanket or newspaper thankfully).

EDIT: And before you give me any lip about why theres no "i dont care" option, its one of the "liked them well enough" options. This is to see how many people actually dislike them. Not whether you actually like them or are apathetic to them.

I've met a communist.

Edit:

Hell, I am a communist.

communists are great...they give you half of what they earn :upstare:

Polls up, I even made an option for you without knowing you posted! Horray!

I've probably met communists and never knew it. I am living in a ex soviet block country after all.

Never met one. Most of my opinions on them are formed from Red Alert 2. Basically I think about them as campy B-grade villains.

So I guess that translates to a 'meh', or in this poll's case, a 'like 'em well enough'.

My answer hinges on whether Solaris is still a commie.

Many. It's hip to be super-left wing when you're young. Communists, a few Syndicalists, my brother is/was an anarchist. They were mostly nice people, of course a lot of fakes and wannabes among them.

Who hasn't met a communist? Yes, I've met them, loads of them, and they are in 95% of the cases ignorant fools and often douchebags too. They became more rare as you grow older, though.

Oh, we're including fake wannabe communists?

One person cannot be a communist on their own. It takes at least two or more.

I once asked one of my friends who is from Pakistan on what he wanted to be when he grew up. He said "Communist." I was like :dozey:. Then I said "Do you mean economist?"

He was like, "Oh yeah, that."

I've met a lot of real commies and ****ing hate them. (my botched vote is invalid)
Mash that dirty red scum, kick 'em in the teeth where it hurts. Kill! Kill! Kill! The filthy bastard commies, I hate 'em! I hate 'em! Aaargh! Aaargh!

i have two friends who say they are communists, though i doubt they truly are. as for myself, i think its a great "on paper" concept.

its a great "on paper" concept.

Key words "on paper". Can anyone name a single successful country that uses the communist ideology. And no China doesn't count since they are now basicaly capitalist.

Cuba!

oh wait nvm.

Cuba ain't doing half bad considering the unfair trade restrictions the US imposes on its little neighbour.

One thing communism is fairly decent at is autarky. But yes, without the need for it Cuba may well abandon the system.

Got a good friend who believes in communism. He's sound as a pound (hahahaha?), though he does go off in length about the subject and I honestly wouldn't know where to start talking about such a thing.

This is probably one of the most even polls I have ever seen on hl2.net

I don't recall meeting any legitimate communists, but I don't like crazy left-wingers in general, especially hippies, especially high school hippies, so I suppose I wouldn't like a communist should I meet one.

Yes, because Hippies and Communists are so very much the same. This is what I was talking about when I said most of the hate is from being misinformed.

I was more along the lines of them both believing in ideas that don't work in practice than thinking they're actually the same. Though I will admit I don't see any massive gap between them.

...like a card-carrying, Stalin-Lives, Lenin-was-Right, Mao-right-Now communist, or just someone who leans more towards socialist policies? I haven't (but I haven't seen a Yeti, either).

Commies are just like any other person. It's not like every country in the world is a democracy. I'm not going to treat them as a hostile just because they contour to a different government type.

Political ideology, short of assholish fanaticism, doesn't usually impact my opinion of people.

Any world in which a garbageman makes as much as a doctor is not a world I want to live in.

Ive met communist actually although i voted i havent.

Communist's are likeable I mean the only hate i ever see toward a communist is because of the Individual. Which can be applied to capitalism too i guess.

(Quality of post is crap im too tired to type

What?

What's wrong with not determining like or dislike of a person based strictly on whether they are a communist or not?

I don't like or hate them. I'm indifferent to them, and will be until I meet them and get to know them.

It's shit on paper too, as it reduces the individual to a number whose sole purpose of life is to be a member of the masses and is supposed to feel and act like everyone else.
