And all of that requires massive amount of munitions on your part. So while you're busy wasting mp OP'ing fuel points, precious munitions on grenades and art, and fuel on 88's, he's riflespamming you up the ass, dropping at's behind your defences, and popping smoke (from the munition points he's taken from you) on his Sherman's every 5 seconds to own your tigers. The thing is that a large amount of Axis players (me included) go after the fuel points immediately and tend to defend them as strongly as possible (and OP'ing them as soon as possible), up to and including bunkers covering them with Pak38 Support (Even 88's are feasible if placed correctly). Also, if you take the "Defense" Tree (RHS), registered artillery reduces the chance of getting the point drastically, unless a multi-pronged attack takes the OP out.
The AT is overpowered, but can be, as stated earlier by me, taken out by Stormtroopers using Bundled Grenades or Assault relatively easily, or even by a lone Sniper. Personally, I don't know the counters while using the other doctrines for Axis, as I mostly use Blitz for the timely reinforcements and the Assault ability, most of the time, and as Stormtroopers come with the Stuh or Tiger Reinforcements, they just tag along behind the tank whilst it moves foward, and take out AT's before the tank can get within range.
Simple tactic, but it serves me relatively well in most of my games.
Or, if he goes inf, he's howie'ing these defences you speak of 24/7.
Not critisising you, just saying it's never that simple.
