I agree to a certian extent, but not fully i think that we are fortunate to have alot of the stuff that we have, though we don't have the best of everything. Why can't people in counties simular to the U.S. be greatfull and proud for the freedoms and opportunaties they have, WITHOUT putting down the U.S. for even the most minute mistakes that we make, and yes we do make mistakes but don't you and I?

But back to the main thread, I feel absolutely terrible about the people that lost family members as well as their own lives, and even would like to assist them in any way possible. But it's just wrong to blame such a serious and tragic event on the U.S. just because we made a few mistakes in the past, i'm personally agravated that such a theory so extreme would be posted on the U.S.'s face as if it was a joke...

That is why I said to an extent people are jealous. Sure, you might have health care, but what is your tax rate?

It is a trade off that the individual has to decide for themselves. I prefer lower taxes.

The problem is Americans have a hard time paying for people to sit on their ass. There was an article I read the other day about some country with these high living standards had a population with the lowest work ethic. People knew the government would pay them for sick days, so they took more sick days off work than anywhere else.

I have hear personal accounts of people partying, getting drunk, etc with royal princes of Saudi Arabia. The women that cover themselves from head to toe dress in casual clothing when traveling to Europe to go shopping.

Like I said above, it is a trade off. If the US wanted universal health care they would have to raise taxes. Right now the american citezens don't want high taxes, so they opt for no universal health care.

Here's two examples, off the top of my head.

At the moment, in Iraq, they're passing laws that mean it's illegal to buy seeds from anybody other than US run companies. These seeds will include a little profit margin, and will therefore be a little more expensive - but as these people have to buy them by law...well... they just have to buy them. Poor farmers are being forced to buy US seeds.

Second. Now, a nice general one. Third world labour. US not the only culprit, but certainly the largest. Kids work in factories 11 hours a day for 11p an hour. They make trainers, shirts, jeans, which cost perhaps £5 to make, then get sold on for £50.

we in uk dont pay for other peoples sex changes, we pay for them to see the GP when they need it. i dont want to pay every time i see the doctor about being ill. whats more asthmatics, diabetics and over 60s and i htink under 5s get free flu-jabs every year. if you want a sex change, or a premium service then you pay extra.
