so i was reading through raising the bar, and it said that there is a cremator head in a jar in eli's office. so when i went near it, eli sais "alyx brought that in, we still don't know what it does." are we to assume that eli doesn't know what a cremator is/does? or will the cremator be left out of any expansion and valve merely through the head in there as random crap?

If Eli says he doesn't know what it is, I'm sure it's safe to assume he doesn't know what a cremator is. :p It'd be nice to encounter them in an expansion or something.

It has been said there may be cremators in the alyx expansion. I'd realy like to see what their gun, immolator or wahtever, is like.

There's one right here in front of ya! :p

They sound like non combatant workers from reading "Raising the Bar". But it'll still be nice to kill one and take their guns.

There was a gnarly looking Cremator in the Alpha that someone found over at HL2world. Pretty cool looking guy, shame he wasn't in it

Meh, unless the immolator is a good weapon. I don't really care.

Wait...so it has been confirmed that there will be an Alyx expansion?

Me wants cremators! They look so cool in the concept art... I really, really, really hope they'll be in the expansion.

Welcome to the pre-release era. (note, it's mentioned in Gamespot's final hours article)
And Eli actually says: "Alyx brings in the strangest things sometimes"

Valve never announced an Alyx expansion in the Final Hours article; Gabe said it was something he'd like to do, but there was never an official announcement from Gamespot. Additionally, Valve has said about the recent announcement in PC Gamer UK that "Despite the rumors, Valve has not announced any plans for an HL2 expansion"

The expansion should explain how Alyx got that head. Hopefully you can fight one. :)

And you can cut its head off as a trophy? :O Man, Alyx is WIIILLLDDD

shes mentally unbalanced...thats how she took out all those metro cops in the building when u blackd out!!!

The head was a weapon in the stolen build, from what I hear. But, like Eli, we have no idea what it does.

He may know what a cremator is though. Just not what their head does once unattached.

Maybe for Barney to use in his undercover operations? :O Imagine him being disguised as a cremator!

just found this thread. here are pics. dont remember where i got em though

I hope if they bring the cremator out we get to use it's plasma weapon.

Edit: Thanks Angry Lawyer.

That's not "as of current". That's as of three or so years back, before they started over due to the whole leak problem.

you know, i bet if they DO put cremators in aftermath, it prolly not gonna be a fun battle. it seems to easy. cremators were just ordered to clean the streets of corpses, not to fight. plus, look at his arms. theyre pencil thin! im suprised he can hold his spray hose up at all. omg i just realized what i said! lol. you know what i mean by spray hose... i hope. as another bonus, his legs seem smaller than my attention span. oh, and would someone explain that pokeball lookin' thing on his chest? its kinda weird. ive rambled on long enough.

Well you know what I ment. Besides there is a chance he will be back in Aftermath so maybe they'll improve that model.

Cremators. Look. Abso-f*cking-lutely. Aweso-f*cking-ome.
They're SO Tim Burton. The idea behind them is damn cool too. I think the bottom (with the feet) looks a bit clunky, but if it was, say, a trench coat that went right to the floor and they glid accross the floor to an extent - literally just above the floor, not like a discernable couple of inches - as a trenchcoat bending and stuff because of concealed running legs would look silly.
That'd be incredible.

whenever a model is in ragdoll position (also called the "jesus pose" or something), its limbs are extended. thats the case with the 3d pic of the cremator i posted. when i say he has stubby legs, look at the proportions. hands, when at the side of the body, reach down to about mid thigh. but not on this guy (hey that rhymes!), his hands, when at his sides, would reach- no, touch the ground he's standing on. other than that, the cremator seems pretty cool. id have liked to have seen it hl2, and hopefully, it could appear in aftermath. maybe somebody (not me) could ask valve to put the cremator in aftermath. and if they say no, then other people could ask, and valve would put the cremator in due to popular vote.

I think they could be quite hard to fight, if you think about it. They have an extremely deadly weapon, which 'sprays', so will be hard to avoid

Yeah I'm with lemon they would be prabably some of the hardest enimies to fight, Plus the spray you with acid so it might keep taking health away from you even after you kill them. You know how deadly acid is.

when I saw the cremators for the first time ina web page whit pics of leaked content I was stunned cuz it looked more like a alien taked form star wars that the tipical alien of half-life,infact it looked to human to be a alien and like something misterious, alongside the stalkers

The Cremator, like the Hydra, Houndeye, Bullsquid, whatever, can be as dangerous or easy as Valve decides to make them. Houndeyes were fairly easy to beat, Bullsquid a bit less so. Reverse their AI, and things would be different. If you want the Cremators to be difficult, crank up the AI, make their gun really wicked, and give them fast movement. I don't envision them as particularly 'aggressive' myself, but they could be fun to encounter. I believe the burnt corpses in the tunnels are the remnants of Cremator victims. Imagine coming around the corner in one of the sewer levels and there is a Cremator shuffling around. You had better get the draw up first because, quick or no, their weapon will probably be a beast.

Cremators were friendly NPCs that wouldn't attack unless you shot them. They don't help you at all, but they don't start spraying you with plasma. I doubt they will be in Aftermath because the Combine don't give a damn about the corpses they leave while they're trying to get the hell out of there.

creamators look awesome, i wish they put some in the game so i could frag em.

yeah but notice i mentioned that they weren't trained to fight. second of all, i mentioned earlier about their pencil thin arms and how it would be shocking if a cremator could lift the thing high enough nail you. but you do have a point, the spray could bounce off the ground or whatever, but only a small bit would get you, causing little damage. but i do think i know what valve could do for the cremator gun. the max ammo would be 1000; every second you attack, 50 points would go down. so basically you could use 20 seconds of a cool and damaging effect. and the ammo would be found ONLY by a cremator.
