Crytek Engine v2

A new card will be needed fo sho. I've got a socket 939 board (Asus A8N SLI), so *fingers crossed* I am only gonna need a new processor. I'm planning on upgrading to 2 gigs of RAM this week, so unless it needs 4 to play Vista games smoothly, I am pretty safe.

One thing tho, Vista? Who says I am gonna upgrade as soon as it gets out?

Why? Your current rig even shames some computers at NASA mission control ..... ;)
moahah, true, I meant upgrade some part such as add 2GB of fast memory, get the lastest FX cpu at that time and buy 8800GTX nvidia in sli mod

My biggest hope in the damn gaming world is that CryTek brings us a kind of Jurassic Park game in Cryengine 2. Nothing, in this whole world could be better.

Predator as well.

Wow, that was badass... dynamic day/night cycles! YES! Soft Particles? That's something new to me... but, looks badass!

Id say try not to speculate about requirement's at the moment without more info, it may be a highly durable engine with a multitude of setting's to keep lower end machines (within reason of course) in the market, Im sure you will need a pretty beefy comp to really get the most out of it though.

Sorry FC fans, but that demonstration was exclusive to paying customers at PCD '05 and amounts to pirating which is not supported on these boards.

It's like someone going to the midnight release of a popular movie with a vidcam and posting it. Also, highly illegal.

I'm quite certain that vid cams were forbidden at this conference and this footage was taken from one snuck in. Easy to do considering the small size of some of them today.
What a lame company, they should be impressing the people who shell out the money to buy the game, not to some corporate execs. Epic and Valve ftw!

Am I the only who hasn't seen the vid?

Yeah, it will be nice to see a high-res version of that clip, along with the commentary that surrounds it. I'd be VERY interested to hear what the developers had to say about it in relation to Windows gaming! The 3 DVD set of that conference is $500 for non-attendees and if you order it you won't actually get your copy until up to 60 days after the show, so we may have a little while to wait. :(

Since when has 3 DVD videos ever cost $500, that is total BS

Um, take a look at this before you start yelling about BS. Its the Microsoft Professional Developers Conference--do you know how much it is to even attend this? They aren't going to be giving it away for peanuts a week after its done. Why spend the $$$ in the first place then???

ummm yes dvds can be that expensive ..we sell a 3 DVD set on Prolapsed Vaginal Vault Repair for $934 canadian ...you have to take into account that these videos are expensive to produce because they have such a limited audience ..in this specific case I'm not so sure

Geez, I actually know a woman who recently informed me that one side of her vaginal wall actually collapsed. Very disturbing news and I wondered how that can happen...then she told me. Yikes. I'll bet they have a dvd set of how to get that repair going as well....

And all of these conferences are expensive, but most people's company pays for them, so they needn't be concerned about the exorbitent price. Still, its a bit much just to see the CryTek footage, awesome though it may be. :)

btw when the vaginal wall collapses it often comes out of the vagina ...6-8 inches of vaginal wall

:O

it's about 5 inches in diameter

Exactly. I repeat my previous sentiment with emphasis: Yikes!

Haha, no aestethical pun intended!

yes well in order for to to digitize the old video to dvd ...I had to watch it 3 times ...I'll never look at woman's yoohoo the same way ever again

Wow. At least I only heard the brief description of this and never got to see the horror for myself. I am a huge fan of the yoohoo and REALLY don't want my mental perception of that area altered in such a jarring and scarring way. Sorry! Tell yourself it was just a bad dream!

put it this way ...the tool used to insert that fruit loop :)laugh:) looks something like this ..it has a baloon on the end that inflates the wall so that the Pessary (ring thingy) can pass through ...oh and they sow the ring thingy to the vaginal wall

*cringe* That's why I avoid so many websites and tv channels than more curious folks do--I can't get the details out of my head. I think we have a reached a fine level of elaboration for today, eh?

Still, I suppose you'd have to be extra careful during you-know-what after an insertion/needlepoint exercise like that.

Medical Science ftw!!!

Of all the things you'd expect in a thread about crytek, Prolapsed Vaginal Vault Repair is not top of my list :|

someones bound to buy the presentation DVD and put it on the net at some stage in the next 60 days... I urge that person (if they read this) to do that as soon as they recieve it, plskthnx :D.

Here's a link to an avi of the PDC 2005. Enjoy! The Crytek discussion is around 1:22:30 or so, but then the content of the video we have all seen anyway can't be shown. STrange, but he does confirm it will ship simultaneously with Vista.

Smart move not showing a game that requires DX10, as gpu sales might slump until new ones are out that support it!

Vista's 64 bit right.. so by 2007/08 when the second far cry is announced and perhaps released by then we'll all need 64 bit processor's to play it right?

There's a Vista-64 and a regular 32-bit edition, so no need to rush out and get a 64-bit processor just yet. It will be imperative in a few years, though, so its up to you.

I already have a 64-bit processor. So i'm ok there. But damn, i'll need to geta few upgrades again :(

I leave this thread for a day and suddenly we're talking about vaginal walls?

Volumetric Clouds

/hurray!

looks pretty nice, though don't know if it will stand up to other next-gen engines, we shall see

Wuv the interactive leaves. HL3 will probably have physically perfect water. And a really hawt nude Alyx skin.

If theres a 32bit and 64bit version of vista, I won't bother buying Vista. Mainly because my local shops don't sell 64bit of winXP, they are bound not to sell 64xVista, and I truly want a O/S that will take advantage of my 64bit processor

is 64bit xp even 'really' commerically available ? it's just a sort of side project for microsoft ..

if they do do a proper 64bit release of vista, it will be available essentially as easily as a 32bit version.

also, video looks hot.

#1:
It's called "shopping on the internet"
#2:
Win XP 64 is not widely available. I've never seen it in stores.

Vista 64-bit will be easily available, 64-bit is the future and most, if not, all operating systems from now on will most likely be or have a 64-bit edition.

If this is alpha build techdemo stuff though.. just wow , this engine will definately give the U3E a run for its money.. what with the scale of detailed environment's possible and all, along with fully destructable props which seem to have quite complex damage model's, it already owns the U3E in terms of apparent scale and beauty from what I can make out.
