Dark Messiah Who's getting it.

Kinda lost what hype I had for it after the dismal MP beta, and linear SP demo

Ill be picking it up. Along with FEAR expansion.

I enjoyed the demo, it's a good game but not enough for me to buy it.

I might get it if the reviews are raving. I found the MP beta underwhelming and the SP demo wasn't really my cup of tea either.

I'll get it when it drops in price. There's too much else coming out pretty soon that I would rather throw my money at like NWN2(PC) and FFIII(DS) and Touch Detective(DS) and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin(DS) and FFXII(PS2--as much as I hate Sony right now)...the list goes on and on....

I'll get it when the inevitable 360 port comes around.

LOL own3d, both FEAR:EP and this game are out on P-2-P sites

OWN3D OWN3D. :D

Won't be picking this one up. Thought the SP demo was kind of average and even had poor performance. MP was even worse performance-wise and I didn't even really get a chance to see if it was any good.

SP demo was looked really linear. Might still be fun though, I dunno. This isn't top of my list of games to buy.

I'll buy the game but not yet. I've got other stuff I am playing and waiting to spend my money on instead.

Ok i played for a couple of hours now its a great game, but the fps get bad in most spots of the game when i'm trying to fight it slows down when i cast fire spells the fps goes doen cause of the fire on screen, I'll have to play this game on my new pc when i get it cause its to slow right now and the seetings are on low so it looks like crap . ARRRGHHH

My system is
P4 3.2
x800pro
2 gigs ram

my specs arent that ad and it runs like crap .
I give it a 6.5/10

I'm having this annoying problem... my system is completely capable of playing the game with full settings, yet I can only turn everything up except the "GFX Details". For some unknown reason, it defaults to medium and won't let me change it. Eh? Anyone?

Agreed. $50 is a little steep for my current financial situation now. I'll have to get it when I get a job again (recently quit mine), and hopefully the price will have dropped by then

I'll get it at some point probably...gonna wait for some reviews...

I thought SP demo was pretty fun...the multiplayer beta was complete turd though(everything charming about SP was gone...gayest class system ever and gayest animations ever...gayest etc etc. :p )...

I personally enjoyed the game and was fortunate not to be plauged by the frequent crashes many have been undergoing. Watch out for a sound bug where everyone has very loud static instead of voices. I had to verify the game files via steam to fix it. A decent albeit linear game, although there are multiple endings. I have yet to try the good ending yet, damned hot demon girl convinced me otherwise.

Mmmh...i bought it yesterday...all hyped up by the demo and the mood-setting in it.

Now I must say I'm more sceptic.
I had one major big crash. I even had to reinstall the full 10GB. I had something to do with memoryhex violation. Altough I have 2GB of memory. I'll try to set my resolution and FX a little lower and try to free some more virtual memory and change the mm.exe...seems to be a solution for many people. Altough I have a perfect good rig.

Story-wise...Not bad, mood setting not bad either...Ah...the most sexy characters ever perceived -altough they are overexceegirated-. This is a male or lesbo-friendly game that's for sure...Ow I do hate the cut-scenes, after HL2-storytelling this is really a downer... you cant even skip them and they are just blink-movies...
I'll play some more sunday...hopefully without any more crashes...We'll see...
Maybe then I'll give you a more positive second opinion.

If they patch it well then maybe this could be a good game.

Feeling pretty ripped for the moment.

Yeh ouch, I am a bit suprised too.. but then again thats a gamespot review so I'll take that with a pinch of salt.

Can someone calls DM staffs to fix the problems?

Flame arrows are too powerful.
The rope (trap) is too "sensitive".
If I save the game while I am climbing a chain, the chain will disappear once I load the save. And I got stuck in the air.

p.s. I am playing demo only.

Gamespot said:
Before you leave, the boss sticks you with a lady named Xana, who is some kind of guardian creature who lives inside your head. This lets her act as the game's Cortana...

This is why I don't listen to gamespots reviews anymore

Yeah Gamespot tend to be incredibly elitist and often end up contradicting themselves.

If it's the same as the demo, but more so, i'll be happy. I wasn't that impressed after the first run, but going back and messing around with different ways of killing people with different skills was pretty neat. It'll have to be after an upgrade, though, as Dark Messiah didn't run nearly as well as HL2 on my pc.

I don't like the fire. It is too powerful and provide an instant kill to the enemy. Those magnetic spikes are even more annoying. No matter how far you are, the enemies will just fall on the spike if you kick them towards the spike direction. Afterall, the rope is intensely annoying. Too sensitive has it been.

Even then, I think DM at least have 80 marks. 85 marks in my opinion. The fighting scenes are close to realistic. You can kick stuff at the enemy. Enemy kicks box at you and you can fend it off via breaking the box flying towards you. The enemy will never be easily killed, of course, with the absence of either arrow or flame.

I'm sure the game will be a lot of fun, I've played the demo. I think gamespot reviews are not too bad, I can live with most of the scores. My main concerns are the performance issues. Not entirely relevant in this topic, but another steam game, psychonauts, runs like crap as well. I should think that my amd x2 4200 2 gb ram and 7800gt should be able to run it smooth as a babies bottom, but no.

Another gripe about Gamespot: They rated GTA: San Andreas higher than Oblivion. 'Nuff said. But I still think they're an ok site.

Completely games though.

A good example of classic Gamespot stupidity is Halo 2 and Half-Life 2.

Both received great scores, but both reviews detail massive flaws (weak campaign for Halo 2, weak A.I for HL2). I'm pretty sure its just terrible journalism, but damn is it annoying.

Editor: "So, whats your review of Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 now that you've played them?"

Gamespot Reviewer: "Half-Life 2 has weak A.I, Both games are too straight-forward at times, Half-Life 2 feels like its the middle story of a trilogy (No shit, thats in the Half-Life 2 review. They actually bag it for being a second game in a trilogy. Go figure) and Halo 2 is only 6-8 hours long. I'm gonna give them both 9/10"

Editor: "Sounds to me, given your largely negative opinions of both games, that 9/10 is a logical score."

Sometimes, Gamespot really sucks.

Game site doesn't know ranking at all. If the storyline of the game is not so good, it pulls down other scores, like graph, as well. WTF? Are the different sub-scores not being remarked separately. As you can see in the comment, it was told that the sound of DM does it job, but the score of sound got 7 only. So what is 8, 9 and 10? That is absolutely contradictory. It does not make any sense at all. This instance is not exclusive. All the subscores in most of the rankings of different games are either close to each other or exactly the same. You know what I mean. It'll be meaningless if the score doesn't mean itself. If all the sub-scores are linking up with the overall impression, then what's the point?

The most annoying is the site is a stupid super-hypercritic. It catches every subtle fault in a game and comments it disproportionally. People think the game is really sucking if they have never play the game but read the comment only. The negative comment is out of ration. It is, therefore, misleading. The in-game faults perhaps affect only one hundredth of the gameplay, yet they have been over-exaggerated into one third. Gamer just got deceived. Exaggeration is the worst in a ranking or comment system. Exaggeration awries the fact, which goes against the spirit of rankings. If the site does not honestly, professionally rank games, it should be simply shut down.

The worst is Gamespot is of no criterion! Games made by big famous company have a higher score. For example, GTA: San Andreas has a super-high score. But, for DM, it says that the fight is repetitive. In my opinion, any fight is repetitive at some points. Fights in Halo 2 are repetitive. DM has a gameplay score of 7, but Halo 2 has a gameplay score of 10. 10! Is it a joke? Halo 2 is not of the best gameplay as you would certainly agree. It does not make sense at all. Fight in DM is new, realistic, fascinating, but it got 7 only, such an awful score. Perhaps it is not as good as Halo 2, but it is not that bad. 99 percent of the games outside are worse than DM. What the hell is it going on? Is Halo 2 really that good? What are the criteria Gamespot using? That is totally unfair, and idiotic. The stupid unfairness is papable. I mean, how much had Bungie paid you? How much friggin' money had Rockstar paid you?... Asshole!

After all, Gamespot is still a good gamers' authority.

I have vented my anger out. I feel better now

meh gamespot is usually fairly accurate ..word of mouth hasnt been kind to Dark messiah

GTA:SA is leaps and bounds above Oblivion
