I think it was over the top, OvA's punishment... but hey, what you gonna do.

I thought alot of the stuff he said was stupid at times... but then again, some of the stuff I say and everybody else says, is stupid too.
 
Seriously do you think he would be stupid enough to tell everyone that he stole over a thousand dollars worth of Steam accounts on a HALFLIFE 2 SITE!?

You people are stupid if you believed for one second that he was being honest, and I still can't believe people are doubting it even after he's admitted it was a joke, and explained what reaction he intended on getting.

Anyone see the Steam Update News about phising for Steam accounts about a year ago? VALVe don't **** around with this kind of stuff, this causes them to take time out of their day to fix this kind of shit, fake or not. He got what he deserved.

Anyway, OvA's joke (if it was) was tasteless, especially on a site that is totally against such activities as it is HOSTED by the company thats being affected. Ban is deserved either way you look at it. And he wasn't that funny, and Samon your sense of humour is fine, its debated that British humour is the best at times, it's just that you know what is funny and whats not.

No, he's the dumbass for posting it on a Half-Life 2 site in the first place. I'm sure if he wandered over to the STEAM forums and posted something similar he'd probably have his STEAM account suspended. No one knows with absolute certainty apart from Ova himself whether he was telling the truth or not, and until it can be proven one way or the other I say he should stay banned. Half-Life 2.net is meant to support Valve and the community, it wouldn't look very good for the site if they let people who openly *admit* to exploiting certain systems or people to frequent the site. He brought himself into disrepute in the Half-Life 2 community therefore a ban was the correct course of action.

And you don't need to know html to do it. Email, msn, aim etc etc all work just as well.

He deserved what he got. And he'll be banned until he's proven innocent i should think.

Saying that you stole Steam accounts on a Halflife 2 fansite that's hosted on servers owned by VALVE is different from saying you stole a pack of gum when you were twelve.

I liked OvA, I thought he was a cool guy, but that was a pretty ****ing stupid thing to joke about (if it even was a joke) and I think he should remain banned until we can definitively prove something one way or the other.

Heh, i just made an assumption from what i know and whats been said here. I don't know the guy, he was ok i spose. But really, it was a stupid thing to say on this site.

Actually, no. I would ban, but just a tempban. I only know two people who've done something to deserve a permaban, and both of those involved repeated, excessive, shameless displays of absolute idiocy that not even a Nineleven conspiracy theorist could deny.

Most of the friends I've had, I made by giving people second (and third, and fourth, and fifth) chances after they screwed up. ;)

What? Thats an illusion, no such thing exists. This is a privatised forum open to the public, which has rules which you must abide to, and these are set by the owner of the site and enforced by the staff here. If you break these rules you will be punished. It's at the discretion of the staff here to ban you for what they see fit. People just feel like they are being targetted...when they are actually provoking a reaction. If it was decided i was to be banned for Ennui a penguin, because the staff agreed so, justification would suck, i'd feel hard done by...buttttt what ya gonna do? Play with fire...get your fingers burned. Ban should stay, learn the hard way, gooooodbaiiiii!

lets stop right there because as pointed out, if it was a joke...there was definitely no indication it was and so claiming it after the fact...well lets just say it doesn't help.
 
I stole 500 Steam accounts, got them all banned, got pissed off, shot 2 people who work at Valve, attempted arson, and then raped Gabe's cat.

Now if I made this post in this current forum atmosphere, I could expect to be banned, it's obvious trolling.
But I didn't make that post (so don't ban me please)

I think you're being rediculous, quit trying to defend him. He should've said something that meant he was in some way joking. You know if VALVe read that themselves they'd most likely ask for his IP's,etc.
