DNF is going to be better than HL2

All I know is that Half-Life 2 will make things much harder on 3D Realms. They promised big things with interactivity, but it looks like Half-Life 2 could very well steal their thunder giving DNF a "Been there, done that" feel before it's even released.

Still, Duke is the man so I'm holding out hope that it'll be a solid if not revolutionary shooter.

I mostly agree with what you said, however you have to keep in mind that DNF will definatelly not come out for AT LEAST another year. By that time, whichever engine they are using will be obsolete.

That's probably true. If they keep changing to try to keep up, it will literally not come out ever. :(

Ras has valid points.

I meanwhn DNF actually comes out it will be popular. DNF will have the major gameplay element to it. Might not be the best breakthru graphics we see in hl2, but the gameplay will make up for it.

Remember the first time we flushed the toilet or threw a pipebomb? Very cool.

dnf stands for did not finish, it'll never come out

(wipes small tear form eye)

I think a lot of the things DNF was promising as far as interactivity goes has already been done with No One Lives Forever 2, let alone HL2 which will be even better than that. I think the games mostly a lost cause now.

THUGENSTEIN appears to be quite fond of this individual.

George Broussard doesn't have enough depth of vision to fulfil the premise DNF is based on, and Scott Miller needs to throw away some of those marketing books he clings to like a security blanket. History, in both cases, has shown this to be true.

Say, didn't you get permanantly banned from those forums for being a nuisance? It would seem history is not without its irony.

No. I got banned because there were two sets of rules and I refused to play ball. There's also the issue of threatening to expose Joe Seigler as a lying git after he pulled a fast one on me. I also have reason to suspect the threat goes deeper than that. Heck, why don't I just say it. I was a bigger draw than Duke. :)

What's the exact polar opposite of fun? Not unfun, but some sort of anti-fun.

That's what this became.

Perhaps I should have clarified: you were banned for being an egotistical nuisance.

Any way, my two (apparently vain) hopes regarding Duke Nukem Forever are that 1) It actually sees the light of day; and 2) It doesn't suck.

Heck, at this point I'm not even asking for it to be revolutionary! I just want to see a competently designed FPS starring the coolest action hero in the gaming world (next to Gordan Freeman, of course!). We'll see.

I'll match that clarification and raise you a killer fact. When people checked their own ego and arrogance at the door, the response was completely different.

I am beyond hope. In fact, I don't care. 3DR have had every opportunity to deliver and they've fluffed it every time. I prefer to pin my hopes on other things.

Cool is a matter of style, and Duke isn't my sort of thing anymore, if it ever was. Duke is all about unthinking and shallow thrills. Other conceiveable game characters would be far more in tune with my psche, or at least as unintrusive as Gordon Freeman.

I have to admit I've somewhat given up on DNF myself. I'd probably say the same for HL2 though if I had known about it for its entire development and hadn't heard anything new in two years. Then again, it's hard to put the Duke down. :b
Cultureshock: Don't hijack this thread with this nonsense.
Mountain Man: Don't provoke him.

As for the subject of the thread, will DNF be better than HL2? It's unlikely. Will it be just as good? Hard to say, but it's possible. Regardless, will the Duke be playing second fiddle to Gordo? Probably.

I suggest you check back a few posts and revise that arrogance before you make a bigger fool of yourself. Ignorance doesn't make a deceit any less of a deceit.

Better? No. Different? Quite likely. Either way, one is here while the other is not. In the meantime, other developers continue to work on their games, so even if DNF manages to scrape out the door, who knows if it will match the competion at the time.

3DR have certainly modified their own position over the past few years, even going so far as to deny they made comments that DNF would be the best of its genre at the time of release, even though I distinctly remember them making those comments.

If even the priests lack faith, one begins to doubt...

my god shut up, you are a self obsessed stuck up fool. Just shut up, you and your dictionary (ooo look at me, i use big words to try and look intelligent), pffff

As for DNF, i think 3DR could very well pull something out of the bag, you never know, they have also knocked out Max Payne and soon Max Payne 2, dont sell them short yet.

Will it rival HL2? Hmm, right now, probably not, when it comes out (in 2 odd years :p) it will probably surpass it, but saying that, it may well be behind the games of the time when its released

If you guys really want to annoy 3D Realm's, quit talking about the release date and sign onto their forum and say how much better Judge Dredd is than Duke Nukem, Trust me, this lights a fire under their ass. :)

Yes, do it...then you too can end up looking like a hypocritical dope when JD turns out badly and you get banned from the JD forums AS WELL Then you're left to scour your old stomping grounds for a mention of your name that will lead to a few very private moments with yourself whilst reading them.:imu:

As far as I know, if you want to talk about Judge Dredd on the 3DR forums then George and Co. have no problem with that. If you want to say that Judge Dredd is better than Duke Nukem Forever, they'll let you say that, too (although from what I've seen of JD, it's not better than anything! What a sorry ass looking game.) If you want to talk about Judge Dredd while baiting other forum users and making unsubstantiated and mean spirited comments about 3D Realms and its employees then you'll get your ass banned. See, it's not what you say but how you say it that gets you in trouble.
