do you guys thing pc's are the real gaming console?

I'm interested in knowing how many of you feel the PC is the best gaming console...I personally feel so for FPS's, which is my favorite genre...HL2 could be the biggest game ever concieved if it came out on ps2 or xbox just because of the user base...however, PC's are still the best in terms of this particular genre to me...thoughts anyone?

It is if you constantly up grade and keep em top of the line, then it owns all, but not all of us can do that, so a console is a good alternative.
Several years of game play without upgrades.

Sure, not everyone will keep their PCs up to date, but the important thing is that PCs have the constant potential to be the best. Consoles are always limited by the hardware they are shipped with, and you have to wait years for an upgrade to even become avaliable.

Not to mention that PC games have always been geared towards a more series audience. What was the equivalent of Doom, Quake, C&C, or any of the old Lucas Arts adventure games on a console? The greatest thing to come out of consoles recently was Halo. And after that, Halo 2. The PC is leaps and bounds ahead of consoles in nearly every aspect.

Computers may very well be beaten in the graphics department when PS3 & Xbox 2 come out.

Then again, those can't be upgraded (can they?) so they won't reign for long. But they're pure gaming consoles, so more games will be made for them than for the PC. ...which is unfortunate.

That depends, PC's "take it to the next level" by adding fuctionality and upgradeability, but that takes it's toll in other ways, particularly in the price point department and stability. Consoles are focused purely on games, that is, they SHOULD be focused on games. I'd hate to see Sony or Microsoft have their way and turn my 300 dollar console into a 900 dollar media center, I'd be rather upset.

PCs are factually better, no console will EVER be more powerful then a PC.

Consoles are just more affordable, since the beginning an atari that you could plug up to your friends TV was cheaper then actually getting a tv, to a SNES which was far cheaper then any PC in store.

it's about money, now there are just a lot of console specific games and all that... all in all this is fact.

PC better for games as more power.
Console are cheaper to make and own, hence better for the money.

i just dont feel right sitting on the couch playing a console unless its a multiplayer game and im with friends. Singleplayer games are just really boring on consoles (thats my opinion). But they are ****ing fun when your with friends; drunk or not :naughty:

i work at gamecrazy and all we sell are console games, and PCs are still always my favorite cuz i play FPS's only really, and besides halo which is the best console fps, the rest are on pcs, and plus my pc owns anything xbox can dish out, even xbox 2 probably. PC's were ment for games, thats why consoles copy us with HDD's now and patches for games and downloadble levels and online play, we set the trend for games.

can anyone say.... emulators and roms?????? A computer can play any console game w/ a custom configuration, my stepbrother has all the SNES and NES video games ever made on his computer, and a few Ps2 and N64 games.

yeah i forgot about that, but u can also do that wiht ur xbox, i also have 200+ genesis games for my dreamcast, they were on a cd, but it was still capable of it, only difference is that the PC could store em, but not console have HDD too....so i just keep saying that everyone is copying PC's cuz they are the best for gaming
