Dollhouse

I may try to sneak out of work early because i work till 9 and i don't want to miss 15 mins of one of my favorite new shows

Great episode.
A bit confusing but great.

I agree, a really great start to the second season. Saunders was awesome in this.

I liked the new episode. I want to bang Eliza, man was she a hot bride

So I actually only just got around to watching the 13th episode of the first season. I made sure I watched it before I watched the season premiere tonight. But I am confused. Are we to assume that the 13th episode isnt canon? Its really weirding me out that there was one episode that took place 10 years in the future, and no other part of the show seems to even remotely acknowledges this. Was that just an episode they did for shits 'n giggles? Or will we be doing some back and forth between time periods this season?

Also, Saunders is pretty hot when she goes all crazy like that.

There will be another episode set in the future in Season 2 as well, "Epitaph 2".

It's Canon, they said to expect some references to it throughout the series.

Agreed.

Ok intro episode. They at least explained how it is that they snagged Ballard into working with them. Plus some funny dialogue at the beginning. Now was Topher sleeping in the server room because they are working OT, or was he sleeping there because he never goes out?

One thing I thought was a bit off was the new intro credits. Yes we know Elisha is the star..no need put here in every shot.....Bring back the old credits

They also made her look like an enormous slut in the intro. I really wish Eliza wasnt the main character.

I suspect this was a 'decision' that made by some Fox Suit rather than Whedon. However if they just wished to replay the scene of her getting out of the wedding dress a few times at the beginning I wouldn't have any objections ;)

Finally got around to catching up on this.

Epitaph One - I don't usually like future episodes because I feel like it takes away some of the suspense of the day to day. I mean, yes, granted, we see a lot of memories and don't necessarily know when they're from, but still, it kind of spoils it. The only show I found it acceptable in was Heroes because the future was still able to change. Felicia Day is amazing, I hope they do more with her. And as much as I never cared for Topher, it was sad seeing what happened to him. He always seemed kind of innocent, one of the few. I love how post-apocalyptic the future goes, too. Very good episode.

Season 2 Premiere - lol Apollo can't find a woman to love him. These two episodes made Whiskey incredibly hot. It's such a shame she's leaving the show. Great episode with her. And with Topher. I'm liking Paul less and less, though.

Also, yeah, I hate the new intro too. It's ALL goddamn Eliza. While I do like her, come on, seriously.

I wasn't that impressed by the Season 2 premiere. It's certainly better than the start of season 1 but compared to the last episodes I watched - the two part finale with Tudyk and Epitaph One - it didn't quite maintain the high standard.

+1 for despising the new intro. Eliza is my least favourite actor among the main cast.

Why were so many people expecting season ending quality from the premiere?

I was hoping rather than expecting, and that's because Joss likely needs it if he has wants a third season. He needs to grab people from the get-go to make up for the poor start to season one.

Just seen it. I thought it was great.

No new viewers because of this one, though.

I dont think this is really a concept that will make it mainstream. There is nothing really compelling on the surface to make people look deeper into the meaning of things that happen. And with this show, all the interesting stuff comes from the deeper meaning. Plus Eliza is a shit actress. I had my friend watch the first two episodes and he said it was "Okay" but he hated Eliza's acting. Dont think hes going to watch any more of it.

i don't think Eliza has bad acting, she is supposed to be brain dead when not on mission and they need to show less of that because its like, "how do you feel Echo?" and shes like, "i want a massage.....Whiskey" and then its like, "would you like a treatment??" "ok"

I think Eliza's a decent actress. I have no qualms about her in this. Aside from how Eliza-centric the show is.

I just rewatched the scene in Epitaph One where Topher figures out how the two sides go to war, and his role in the entire thing, and it's such an amazing scene. It may be my single favourite moment of the show so far.

Better not get too attached to it, considering the ratings. Dollhouse pulled a record low for the new episode and this was the premiere. I didn't think it could get any lower than last season. Hopefully we'll get to see all the 13 episodes this season.

It's because FOX isn't really bothering with the PR.
They're essentially going to set the show up to fail.

They cancelled TSCC for it. I didn't check it's ratings, but I'm pretty sure Dollhouse did worse than TSCC used to do.
Actually, it looks like not even Joss fans care about Dollhouse right now.

They moved it to Friday. This show is pretty much canceled.

Nah, TSCC was going to be canceled no matter what. That show started bombing hard.

Yeah, it was always on Friday. Thats one of the reasons it has no viewers and nobody knows about it. Its also one of the reasons why I dont get why Joss still works with Fox. Find a new network dude, these guys only **** with you.

Their PR for this show is so bad that, even as a fan, I didnt know that season 2 premiered friday. I missed it, and didnt know about it until I saw this thread bumped yesterday.

Holy shit this episode was bad. Next episode looks rocking though.

Yeah this weeks was - at best - forgettable. It did at least serve to further the story, with showing more of what Topher is capable of doing, and the toll this is all taking on Echo.

I didn't think it was that bad.
I mean, sure it was odd that Echo was hired to be a mother just because the guy couldn't cope with being a father just yet... but it was nice to see Eliza Dushku play a maternal role... she didn't do half bad either.(lucky baby)

It was cool to see November pop by, the beginnings of another organization looking to bring down the Dollhouse, and Topher's advancements.

I missed tonights episode...is it even worth watching this past one??

I thought it was good. I liked that they just threw you in there and that you had to figure out what was going on. Seems quite clear that they are having to deal with a lower budget, so the stories are a lot more intimate in terms of casting.

I fear that the show probably won't make it to a third series based on the viewing figures, however lets enjoy the ride whilst we can. I'm sure Fox will allow it to play out though as they need a show to have 13 episodes before they can sell a DVD it seems.

Anything made by Joss Whedon has to be awesome.

I cringed.

but I'm not sure why everyone seems to hate this show

I'm not sure why everyone seems to like this show!

And Samon likes Lost for God's sakes. HELLO.

So do I, BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME.

I don't find her attractive, either.

Agreed.

and it didn't help much that the first few episodes were a bit crap.

You don't say.

Also, all of the Dollhouse staff are classic Whedon characters: witty, clever, complicated... and a bit lovable

Oh god no.

I think intellectual intensity beats out Morena Bacarrin, though very slightly.

This is the worst thing I have heard all week.

I think the show had a good concept but I think it needed to be better done.

Am I the only one on this forum that does not like this show? I'm lonely and scared and sense a barrage of angry comments.

Thank you for coming in to give your 2 cents. Unfortunately, since you used play money, no one cares what you think.

Good job at simply saying "I disagree" seven times in a flamebaiting fashion without providing any insight as to why you think that way or having a modicum of anything worth saying that might spark any form of discussion. Perhaps you sense a barrage of angry comments because you left no other alternative for a response to your post because there was simply no content in your post to respond to. From what we can gleam from your post, you may very well have not seen a single episode of the show, nor have even heard of it until you happened across this thread. You may very well have consciously decided to open a random thread and incite anger from people who posted the comments you randomly quoted for no other reason to amuse yourself.

I say again, well done! Were I a moderator I would have awarded you a handful of infraction points for posting spam!

Anyways, this show is doomed. I'm skeptical that we'll even see the whole season. Frankly, I don't think i'll be upset if we dont. Most of the episodes seem like filler, and there nothing intriguing enough to entice me to want more. I think it would have been better if they stayed in the Epitaph One setting, because there was a lot more going on then.

They will probably make all of this season as they need to have enough episodes to sell overseas. 13 is the minimum necessary also for a DVD, and there is always money in that for them. As I said in my earlier post I don't expect the show to be renewed, however I'm interested to see where they take it.

Do you think DVD sales would make up for the cost of another 10 episodes? The only way that would happen is if they cut costs drastically, and then they would show them on TV and everyone would hate them, and nobody will buy the dvd.

Costs have already been cut drastically, that's one of the reasons it was renewed, and I believe most of the episodes have been produced already so we'll see them eventually even if the show is canceled.

They also need a complete season in order to sell the show overseas to other broadcasters. Between that and DVD sales yes I'd say there is profit in it. Plus they would need a replacement for the slot. Sticking in a repeated series would probably garner them less of a demographic than they are presently getting.
