Dollhouse

Can't wait, very pleased to hear that it stands a good chance in coming back for another season. :D
Also, Prison Break ftw.

The new episode was good. The kissing thing was hilarious :p

Great episode.
Also noticed that in the description(on dish network atleast) of this episode and the one next friday don't have "Season Finale" at the end of either one.

Did FOX actually come to their senses?

Er, this week's was Episode 10. The debate was over whether 12 or 13 would be the finale, so we still have one more before then.

Weird, it listed it as episode 12 on the tv. D:

Nope! Check IMDB.

Just watched last night's. Great episode. Loved the death stuff. I still hate Topher, but I feel kind of bad for him now too.

I liked how all the sci-fi cliches Topher and the doll listed were ones avoided in Firefly :D

Also, Wash from Firefly is going to be in next week's episode. :D

Loved some of the ideas they covered in the EP. The idea that they could/would keep peoples entire personalities on ice and the potential that opens up is quite fascinating, I also liked the fact that they didn't blow it to the extreme either. The whole idea of effective immortality is a really interesting one, and hopefully they'll get to explore it further.

**** me that was a good episode.

- Love the idea that they can get an imprint and age it like that, very cool.
- Loved the Sleeping Beauty analogy.
- Great trick from Agent Helo to follow Neighbor November like that.
- Excellent to see Tudyk in this show.
- The "We should bring rope" / "I wish we brought rope" was classic Whedon and made me lol.
- I thought something was up with Tudyk's character when he started just kind of going along with Agent Helo, but I in no way expected him to be Alpha. And it was easy to forget that Sierra was off checking out that body.
- Curious to find out Echo and Alpha's relationship.

Absolutely amazing. It looks like next weeks is the finale so we won't be getting that 13th episode.

Agreed, bloody good ep.

Loved how Ballard used his rejection of November to track her back etc, also Tudyk was cool because he has the sort of face that can flip from comic to sinister pretty easily. Poor old Victor though, first he gets rudely awaken by Ballard and Boyd then goes to the docs to get patched up only to get his face slashed up by alpha :O

Yeah, I always knew Tudyk was a great actor, but this was really above and beyond what I knew he could do. Absolutely amazing.

Tudyk rocked. I liked Topher's use of 'frakk' too :)

Best episode yet, I suspected the face-heel turn though.

Yeah that was a cool little nod. ;)

I knew before going in how it would play out, but I think they handled it pretty well.

Loved the bit where they brought back Mr Dominic in Victor and he started freaking out, thought that was an excellent scene, also anyone else pick up on the fact that he said 'Whiskey' to the Dr? Former Doll perhaps? Could be thought whether she realises it is another matter

The show definitely has legs and I'm hoping Fox renews it, because these latter episodes have demonstrated there's a rich vein of storytelling to be tapped out of the shows basic premise.

Yeah, I think that it might make sense. We've seen that the Dr has... complicated feelings with the dolls. And there was also the scene where Alpha said "have you always wanted to be a doctor?" and she said "yes" and he said "liar". It's entirely possible that her scarred face meant that they moved her off of assignments and into more... clinical work, maybe with a permanent imprint. Something that contributes to this is the fact that the dolls are called "Actives" implying that there might be more who aren't.

Yeah I remarked earlier in this thread that I felt like the show was missing something, and that feeling is gone. Whedon seems to have a lot more freedom the past few episodes and it's definitely turning the show into something better.

Looks like Ballard is becoming Echos handler, maybe imprinted or something.

Yeah I got that impression from next week's preview. On some level I kind of get that have to do something with him now that he's found the dollhouse, cause it's not like he can escape with Echo, but at the same time, I don't know.

I kind of doubt he'd be imprinted. Boyd had quite a few reservations at the start and is still kind of iffy about the entire dollhouse (as shown in the conversation between him / helo / dewitt)

Holy shit, that was probably the best piece of television I've seen so far this year.
I love the direction it's going.

Alan Tudyk was especially awesome.

I just rewatched this and I was thinking. The idea that the Doctor was an active also works with how Alpha was asking her about when he was admitted. Those memories would have been fake, and he said "that's so very interesting", implying that he knew she wasn't the doctor then.

The only other person that Dominick could have been talking to when he said Whiskey was Boyd, but we see later on that Boyd is still kind of troubled by what the Dollhouse is doing, which implies that he hasn't been wiped and replaced. Also, just after he says "Whiskey" we see DeWitt lean over and whisper something to Boyd, who nods

The thing that interests me is this. The sleeping beauty analogy that you see when you go through watching it implies that Ballard is the Prince, but Alpha sees himself as the prince. He says to her that he'd be back.

But earlier than that, when Echo is talking to the little girl about the story, she says to the girl that the Prince was a wish the girl had, that she created him. I don't know how far fetched this is, but I think Caroline/Echo made Alpha, and put some kind of failsafe type thing in herself to make her too.

The comparison between Echo and Alpha has been clear from the start, when she started remembering things that she shouldn't have been able to. The fear is that she is doing 'exactly what Alpha was doing' before he went off the grid.

We saw in Echo's flashback earlier that her boyfriend got shot during the escapade that got her into the Dollhouse. It's possible he was downloaded, and that's part of where Alpha comes from.

Another thing that I picked up on more, which someone may have said earlier, is how much Tudyk's character at first is so much like Topher. I'm not sure how it all goes together, but it seems like Alpha could really be this... amazing personality all put together to bring down the Dollhouse.

I don't know, there's so much you can infer at this stage, and it makes it amazing.

This seriously was one of the best episodes of anything ever.

I own this thread.

Possible future spoilers:
Apparently word on the street is that Alpha has SEVERAL dormant personalities that he can enable and disable at will, and even has his own Dollhouse he's constructing.

I really hope they don't kill him off at the end of this season, there's so much potential they could do.

Yeah, I felt so bad for the guy.

EVERYONE YOU KNOW AND LOVE IS IN FACT A DOLL, BALLARD.
YOUR LIFE IS A LIE.

Ballard saying "My whole life is a lie" made me rofl, remembering Lucid posting this.

Still can't get over what a great episode it was. And yet ratings are trending downward. :(

It's because FOX doesn't know how to advertise the damn the show and it didn't help much that the first few episodes were a bit crap.

True. I'm sure being on Friday Nights at 9 doesn't help.

Yeah, jesus, most people aren't even home on a Friday night.
Hell, I usually record it with TIVO and watch it the next morning.

I usually notice the clock and say "oh shit" and then download it later :(

I just saw the latest episode and was like :O through most of it. Amazing episode, and YAY Alan Tudyk! <3<3<3<3

The final episode didn't quite live up to my expectations as I envisaged Alpha to a bit more bad ass, and it whimpered out towards the end, however it threw up some interesting themes and I liked the proper introduction of Whiskey, also 'Ballards choice' was unexpected. Here is hoping the show gets a renewal as it has potential (though a bigger budget would help).

Quite a nice little fan article about Dollhouse here:-

Pity about the haters of the show in the comments though. I find it kind of bizarre that people who don't like the show really feel they need to SHOUT about it. I can't recall a show that's brought this kind of negative soap boxing out in people before, I can only guess they've either nothing going on in their lives or just feel uncomfortable with the shows themes. Personally I'm loving it, its delving into notions of identity that haven't been explored in film or TV outside of Blade Runner.

That was great.
Didn't expect any of Ballard's decisions.

I was anticipating another Dollhouse massacre with Alpha and Omega, but... I guess Alpha's going to be the main antagonist of the show now.
Should be great! He'll probably revisit his would-be victims and such.

Also, I wouldn't quite say this is Whedon's best work just yet.
I'll reserve that judgment until the *crosses fingers* 2nd season's finale.
